The National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), Hyderabad, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), is organising the CIRP Simulation Competition 2026 under the National Conclave on Insolvency and Bankruptcy Laws (NCIBL) 2.0.

This competition offers participants a unique opportunity to simulate the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) and gain hands-on experience in insolvency law practice.

Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA)

The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) operates under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, and focuses on capacity building, research, and policy advisory in corporate governance and allied areas.

The collaboration between NALSAR and IICA ensures that the competition is aligned with real-world insolvency frameworks and regulatory practices.


About the Simulation Competition

The CIRP Simulation Competition 2026 is a pioneering student-driven initiative in the field of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Law. The competition is organised by the LL.M. (IBL) Batch 2025–27 at NALSAR.

The competition simulates the complete lifecycle of a Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process, requiring participants to demonstrate:

  • Statutory understanding of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC)
  • Strategic decision-making
  • Legal drafting and analytical skills
  • Advocacy before simulated forums

Participants will present their arguments before simulated Committee of Creditors (CoC) and National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) panels, replicating real-world insolvency proceedings.

Team Structure

Each participating team must consist of two members, who will assume specific roles within the CIRP framework:

  • IRP / RP (Interim Resolution Professional / Resolution Professional)
  • RA (Resolution Applicant)

Participants are required to strictly adhere to their assigned roles throughout the competition.


Competition Format

The competition is divided into two stages, combining written and oral components:

Stage I – Online Round

  • Submission of a Resolution Plan (mandatory)
  • Evaluation based on CIRP sequencing, compliance, and analytical clarity
  • Must adhere to provisions of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) and CIRP Regulations

Stage II – On-Campus Rounds (NALSAR, Hyderabad)

Day 1 (11 April 2026):

  • Inaugural session and orientation
  • Qualifier rounds before simulated Committee of Creditors (CoC)
  • Announcement of semi-finalists

Day 2 (12 April 2026):

  • Semi-final rounds
  • Final round before a simulated NCLT Bench
  • Valedictory ceremony and prize distribution

Eligibility Criteria

The competition is open to:

  • Students pursuing 3-year or 5-year LL.B. programmes
  • LL.M. students from recognised universities
  • Students from Finance, Management, Economics, or allied disciplines

Team Composition:

  • Each team must consist of exactly two members
  • Cross-institutional teams are permitted

  • Early Bird Registration Deadline: 25 March 2026
  • Regular Registration Deadline: 31 March 2026
  • Release of Problem Statement: 2 April 2026
  • Last Date for Clarifications: 5 April 2026
  • Submission Deadline: 9 April 2026
  • Competition Dates: 11–12 April 2026
