The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), Government of India, has invited applications for its Paid Internship Programme 2026. The programme is aimed at providing women candidates from non-Tier I cities and rural areas with hands-on exposure to public policy, governance, and research related to women and child welfare.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development is the nodal ministry of the Government of India responsible for the formulation, implementation, and administration of laws, policies, and programmes aimed at the welfare, development, and protection of women and children across the country.
About the Internship Programme
The MWCD Internship Programme is a structured initiative designed for women students, scholars, teachers, and social activists who wish to engage with the Ministry’s ongoing schemes, pilot projects, and policy initiatives.
The programme seeks to:
- Provide qualitative exposure to public policy and governance
- Encourage field-based research, micro-studies, and policy analysis
- Develop future professionals and advocates working in the area of women and child rights
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must fulfill the following conditions:
- Women candidates from Non-Tier I cities and rural areas of India
- Women students, scholars, teachers, or social activists
- Candidates must be enrolled in or associated with a university, academic, or non-academic institution
- Age limit: 21 to 40 years
Stipend & Facilities
Selected interns will be provided with the following:
- Stipend: ₹20,000 per month (paid as a lump sum)
- Travel Reimbursement: To and from Delhi (Deluxe/AC Bus or 3-Tier AC Train)
- Accommodation: Hostel facility in Delhi on a shared basis for the internship duration
Internship Duration & Batches
The internship is conducted in four terms each financial year, with each term lasting two months:
- May – June
- August – September
- November – December
- February – March
Location & Intake
- Location: Delhi
- Number of Interns: Up to 20 interns per batch
Application Timeline
- Last date for current cycle: 10 February
- Applications must be submitted two months prior to the internship term
- Application window: 1st to 10th of the relevant month
(For example: 1–10 March for the May–June batch)
