Lexis and Company is inviting applications from law students, fresh law graduates and trainee advocates for a performance-driven Legal Intern / Trainee opportunity involving litigation, drafting, legal research and professional legal work.
About the Opportunity
The internship / traineeship is designed for individuals seeking practical exposure beyond classroom learning. Selected candidates will work on task-based assignments and gain experience through practical legal work.
The opportunity follows a performance-driven learning model, with payments linked to tasks and projects completed.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to:
- Law students pursuing a 3-year or 5-year law course.
- Fresh law graduates.
- Trainee advocates.
Applicants should have:
- A basic understanding of legal research and drafting.
- A willingness to learn, follow instructions and meet deadlines.
- Access to a laptop and the internet.
- Prior internship experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Roles & Responsibilities
Legal Research
Interns and trainees will conduct legal research on assigned issues, statutes and case law.
Legal Drafting
Selected candidates will assist with drafting applications, notices, briefs and notes.
Case Management
The role includes case file management and documentation support.
Court Preparation
Interns may assist advocates with court preparation and procedural work.
Legal Summaries and Compliance
Candidates will prepare summaries, checklists and compliance notes as required.
Task Management and Reporting
Interns and trainees must complete assignments within the prescribed timelines and submit a Task Completion Report for every assignment.
Remuneration Structure
This opportunity does not offer:
- A fixed stipend.
- A fixed salary.
- A guaranteed monthly payment.
Instead, it follows aΒ Pay Per Task and Performance-Based Learning Model.
Interns and trainees are paid on a task-by-task or project-by-project basis.
Payments for tasks completed during a month are released on theΒ 7th of the following month.
The estimated earning for an average-performing intern is stated to be betweenΒ βΉ8,000 and βΉ20,000 per month, depending on performance and completed work.
