About the Opportunity

The Legal Intern will support the Legal & Compliance function at Fusionpact Technologies. The role offers practical exposure to AI regulatory frameworks, data protection compliance, governance initiatives, risk management and certification processes. Interns will work with legal, technology and sustainability teams on regulatory and enterprise compliance matters.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates currently pursuing or who have recently completed a law degree, such as B.A. LL.B., LL.B. or an equivalent qualification, or who possess foundational legal/compliance knowledge.
• Demonstrated interest in technology law, AI governance, risk management, data protection and regulatory compliance.
• Strong research, analytical and written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain regulatory concepts to legal and non-legal stakeholders.
• Familiarity with the Indian regulatory and compliance environment and the ability to translate requirements into practical compliance measures.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior exposure to SOC 2, ISO frameworks, the DPDP Act, GDPR or EU AI Act is desirable. Familiarity with risk registers, control frameworks, compliance matrices and audits, along with experience supporting auditors or technology teams, is also valued. Coursework, certifications or academic projects in privacy, technology regulation, AI governance or ESG compliance may be relevant.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Track AI regulatory developments, including the EU AI Act, DPDP Act and India-specific technology regulations, and assess their implications for operations and products.
• Support SOC 2 Type I and Type II certification, control mapping, evidence collection, risk registers and audit preparation.
• Assist with DPDP Act compliance through research, gap assessments, documentation and implementation support.
• Maintain compliance policies, governance frameworks, control matrices and records of laws and regulatory deadlines.
• Participate in internal audits and risk assessments, and coordinate supporting documentation with external auditors and certification bodies.
• Draft governance memoranda, policy briefs, compliance notes and regulatory correspondence; support contract review and due diligence.
• Collaborate with development teams on compliance implementation and sustainability teams on ESG and environmental compliance initiatives.
