About Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT)
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) works under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. It is responsible for formulating and implementing the Foreign Trade Policy, promoting the country’s exports, issuing authorisations and scrips to exporters, and monitoring the fulfilment of related obligations through its network of 24 Regional Authorities. The Office of the Additional Director General of Foreign Trade (CLA) is inviting applications for its New Delhi office.
About the Opportunity
DGFT is engaging Young Professionals on a contractual basis for an initial period of one year. The engagement offers candidates an opportunity to contribute to trade facilitation, export promotion and policy-related work within a central government office. The engagement may be extended or curtailed at the discretion of the competent authority, depending on office requirements and performance.

The Office of the Additional DGFT (CLA), New Delhi, has six existing vacancies for Young Professionals.
Location
The engagement is based at the Office of the Additional Director General of Foreign Trade (CLA), ‘A’ Wing, Indraprastha Bhawan, I.P. Estate, New Delhi–110002.
Remuneration
Young Professionals will receive a consolidated fee of ₹60,000 per month, subject to periodic completion of work certified by the controlling officer. Professional Tax and TDS will apply. No other allowances or monetary benefits will be applicable.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should not have attained the age of 35 years as on the closing date for submission of applications and should be in good health. The required qualifications are:
- Economics: Master’s Degree in Economics from a recognised university.
- Law: Master’s Degree in Law or LL.B.
- Management or Business Administration: MBA from a recognised university.
- Engineering: B.Tech./B.E. in Mechanical, Chemical, Information Technology or Computer Science, or MCA from a recognised university.
- Commerce: Master’s Degree in Commerce from a recognised university.
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
- Good presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to understand, analyse and interpret policy documents, government notifications, reports and data.
- Experience in research, report writing, note drafting and presentation preparation.
- Working knowledge of artificial intelligence and digital productivity tools for research, data analysis, content generation and workflow management.
- Knowledge of Foreign Trade Policy, export promotion schemes and international trade matters will be an added advantage.
- Normal working hours are 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on working days, although work beyond office hours, including weekends or holidays, may be required.
- Leave entitlement is 1.5 days per completed month, subject to prior approval. Unavailed leave lapses at the end of the engagement year.
- Women Young Professionals are eligible for maternity leave under the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017.
- The engagement is subject to verification of qualifications, experience, police verification and medical fitness.
- Selected candidates must execute a Non-Disclosure Agreement and Non-Compete Agreement, including a cooling-off period.
- Travel within India may be required, with TA/DA admissible at the entitlement of a Central Government Assistant Section Officer.
- The contractual engagement does not confer a right to regular appointment or future employment in DGFT or another government organisation.
