About Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur
Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur is a constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune, offering interdisciplinary legal education through its integrated undergraduate and LL.M. programmes. Its academic approach combines law with areas including humanities, social sciences, business and management.
The Research and Publication Cell of Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur promotes legal research, critical thinking and scholarly writing. The Cell conducts research projects, writing initiatives, seminars, workshops, competitions and publication activities for students.
About the Opportunity
SymBLawg is a publishing initiative and annual competition organised by the Research and Publication Cell of Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur. The 2026 edition focuses on the socio-legal implications of artificial intelligence and invites submissions that critically examine contemporary challenges and propose equitable and sustainable solutions.
Participants may submit their work under either of the two prescribed themes: data protection in the age of algorithms, or ESG and carbon credits in a digitally accelerated economy.
Themes
Theme 1: Data Protection in the Age of Algorithms: Safeguarding Privacy in an AI-Driven World
This theme focuses on challenges to individual autonomy, privacy and behaviour arising from the proliferation of artificial intelligence. Suggested areas include data erasure and profiling.
Theme 2: ESG and Carbon Credits: Regulating Environmental Impact in a Digitally Accelerated Economy
This theme concerns the environmental consequences associated with the growth of artificial intelligence and related technologies. Suggested areas include carbon footprints, resource exploitation, greenwashing of ESG claims and carbon credits in the digital economy.
Eligibility Criteria
- The competition is open to students enrolled in a recognised law university, college or institute.
- Participants may submit individually or with one co-author.
- Co-authorship is permitted for a maximum of two authors per submission.
- Only one submission per author is permitted.
Submission Guidelines
- The submission must correspond to one of the two prescribed themes.
- There is no strict word limit, but submissions of approximately 1,300–1,500 words are preferred.
- Submissions must be original, well-structured and written in English.
- The submission must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
- The Word file must be saved using the title of the paper followed by the name of the author or authors.
- A maximum of 10% plagiarism is permitted. Submissions exceeding this limit will be disqualified.
- Submissions containing AI-generated content will not be accepted and may lead to disqualification.
- Citations must strictly follow the Bluebook 21st Edition.
- Submissions must not contain offensive, abusive, derogatory or potentially defamatory content.
- The decision of the editorial board will be final and binding.

Formatting Guidelines
The content must be formatted in Times New Roman, with font size 12 for the main text and 10 for footnotes. The main content must be justified and use 1.5 line spacing, while footnotes must be left-aligned with single line spacing.
Publication
All submissions will be reviewed by the editorial team, and any changes required for publication will be communicated to the authors. The editorial team’s decision will be final and binding.
Only ten selected blogs will be published on the official SymBLawg blog. Upon publication, all literary and copyright rights in the submission will be transferred to the Research and Publication Cell, Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur.
Certification
Authors whose submissions are accepted for publication will receive an e-certificate of publication. All participants will receive an e-certificate of participation.
Deadline
The last date for submitting entries for the SymBLawg 2026 edition is 30 September 2026.

Application Procedure
Interested participants may submit their entries through the Google Form provided by the Research and Publication Cell. The brochure also provides for submission through the QR code.
The submission must comply with the prescribed theme, formatting, word-limit preference, citation and originality requirements. The last date for submission is 30 September 2026.
