The College is approved by the Bar Council of India and affiliated with the University of Mumbai. It focuses on legal education through modern facilities, clinical legal education and a practical-oriented approach.

Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, New Panvel is organising a One Day National Conference on โ€œRe-Imagining Law and Society: Multidisciplinary Perspectives on Emerging Issues.โ€

The conference invites scholars, academicians, legal practitioners, researchers and students to examine the changing relationship between law and society amid technological, economic, cultural and social transformations. The conference will explore emerging issues including artificial intelligence, data privacy, cybercrime, changing patterns of crime, human rights, economic governance, cultural identity and climate change.

The conference aims to encourage interdisciplinary discussion involving law, technology, economics, sociology, culture and allied disciplines, with a focus on developing responsive and future-ready legal frameworks.

Suggested areas include business and human rights, freedom of expression, migration, refugees and law, and mental health and legal capacity.

Law, Economy and Governance

The sub-themes include GST, taxation and legal frameworks, startups and entrepreneurship, corruption, transparency and accountability, and behavioural economics and law.

Culture, Identity and Law

Participants may explore law and cinema, cultural heritage and legal protection, language, law and access to justice, and fashion, branding and intellectual property.

Crime, Victimology and Social Response

Suggested topics include juvenile justice and education, victim compensation and insurance, media trials and public opinion, and rehabilitation through art and therapy.

The Future of Law: Interdisciplinary Perspectives

This category covers law and AI, law and climate change, law and mental wellbeing, and law and creative industries.

Guidelines for Authors

Authors must submit an original research paper that has not been published previously in any form. The full paper may be written in English, Marathi or Hindi and must be submitted in Microsoft Word format.

For English papers, Times New Roman should be used. Marathi or Hindi papers should use the specified fonts mentioned in the brochure, including APS-DV-Priyanka, DVBW TTSurekh (ISM V6), Unicode, Mangal or Kokil.

The font size should be 12 with 1.5 line spacing, while footnotes should be in size 10 and follow APA style. The article should contain 1,500 to 2,000 words, including the abstract, with a maximum length of 5โ€“6 pages.

The manuscript should contain the abstract, keywords, main text and references. The title page should include the paper title, names of the authors, mobile number and email address of the corresponding author or authors. References should be provided at the end of the paper in APA style, and website references should contain the complete URL.

The research paper must be submitted exclusively for publication in connection with the conference.

Publication

All accepted papers will be published in the peer-reviewed, refereed and UGC-listed journal โ€œAJANTAโ€, ISSN 2277-5730, identified in the brochure as Journal No. 40776. Papers will undergo a single- or double-blind peer review process.

Awards

The conference will have awards for Best Research Paper Presentation in the Faculty category and Best Research Paper Presentation in the Student category.

Registration Fees

Research Scholars and PG Students can register for Rs. 1,000, while Faculty/Delegates can register for Rs. 1,200. Participation and paper presentation only is available for Rs. 500.

The brochure states that separate registration and fees are required for multiple authors who want hard copies and certificates, as well as breakfast, lunch and the conference kit.
