The Birla School of Law is organising its 3rd National Moot Court Competition on October 9, 10 and 24, 2026.

About Birla School of Law

Birla School of Law (BSOL), under Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar, was established in 2018 with the aim of developing a premier institution for aspiring new-generation lawyers.

The National Moot Court Competition is organised in honour of the founders, Late B K Birla and Late Sarala Birla.

About the Opportunity

The 3rd Birla School of Law National Moot Court Competition is a national-level moot court competition for students pursuing three-year or five-year integrated law degree programmes.

The competition will be conducted in a hybrid format. The preliminary and quarter-final rounds will be held online, while the semi-final and final rounds will be conducted offline at Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar.

Competition Structure

The preliminary round will be conducted online on October 9, 2026, followed by the quarter-final round online on October 10, 2026.

The semi-final and final rounds will be conducted offline at Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar, on October 24, 2026.

Number of Positions

Multiple teams from the same institution are permitted to participate in the competition.

Duration

The competition will be conducted across October 9, 10 and 24, 2026, with the result declaration and trophy distribution scheduled for October 25, 2026.

Mode

The competition will be conducted in hybrid mode, with the preliminary and quarter-final rounds taking place online and the semi-final and final rounds taking place offline.

Location

The offline rounds will be conducted at Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar.

Registration Fee

The non-refundable registration fee is ₹2,000. The fee may be paid through the prescribed QR code or account transfer.

Deadline

The last date for registration, along with submission of Annexure-A and the payment receipt, is September 30, 2026.

Prize Details

The winning team will receive a trophy and prize worth ₹20,000.

The runners-up will receive a trophy and prize worth ₹15,000.

The Best Memorial, Best Researcher and Best Speaker awards carry prizes worth ₹10,000, ₹5,000 and ₹5,000 respectively.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students enrolled in three-year or five-year integrated law degree courses from any recognised University, Law School, College, or Department are eligible.
  • Multiple teams from the same institution are permitted to participate.

Roles & Responsibilities

Moot Court Participation

Participating teams will compete in the preliminary, quarter-final, semi-final and final rounds according to the competition schedule.

Research

A Researcher’s Test will be conducted online on October 10, 2026.

Memorial Submission

Participating teams must submit the soft copy of their memorial by October 5, 2026.

Application Procedure

Interested teams must complete Annexure-A (Registration Form) and make the prescribed registration payment.

Teams must email the scanned copy of Annexure-A along with the payment receipt to bsolmcc@bgu.ac.in by September 30, 2026.

The important dates are:

  • September 30, 2026: Last date for registration, Annexure-A and payment receipt.
  • October 2, 2026: Confirmation of provisional registration and team code allotment.
  • October 3, 2026: Last date for seeking clarifications.
  • October 4, 2026: Release of clarifications.
  • October 5, 2026: Soft-copy memorial submission.
  • October 9, 2026: Inaugural ceremony and preliminary round.
  • October 10, 2026: Quarter-final round and Researcher’s Test.
  • October 24, 2026: Semi-final and final rounds.
  • October 25, 2026: Result declaration and trophy distribution.
