The Centre for Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights & Indian Knowledge System (CIIPR), Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), is organising the 3rd National Intellectual Property Article Writing Competition, 2026, in collaboration with S.S. Rana & Co.
The competition invites participants to undertake research and present original perspectives on contemporary issues concerning Intellectual Property Rights. The listed themes include emerging questions involving patents, copyright, trademarks, geographical indications, and digital technologies.
About the Opportunity
The 3rd National Intellectual Property Article Writing Competition 2026 provides an opportunity for participants to showcase their research, critical thinking, and originality on contemporary Intellectual Property Law issues.
The competition involves online submission of articles followed by a virtual presentation of shortlisted papers before a panel of assessors. Participants may choose topics beyond the indicative themes, provided they fall within the broader scope of Intellectual Property Rights.

The competition will involve online article submission and virtual paper presentation.

The indicative themes include:
- Patent exhaustion and the limits of post-sale control over repair and emerging areas
- Copyright, computational learning, and the limits of permissible use in training Large Language Models
- Trademark protection of product appearance after the expiry of design rights
- Geographical indications, tribal displacement, and the continuity of community-based product identity
- Trans-border reputation and the territorial limits of trademark protection in the global digital marketplace
The themes are indicative and non-exhaustive. Participants may select another topic falling within the broader scope of Intellectual Property Rights.
