About Presidency University, Bengaluru

Presidency University, Bengaluru was established in 2013 by the Presidency Group of Institutions and is a NAAC ‘A’ accredited multidisciplinary university offering programmes across Engineering, AI & Advanced Computing, Management, Law, Design, Media Studies, Commerce, Sciences, Liberal Arts, and Allied Health Sciences.

Presidency School of Law (PSOL), established in 2015, is approved by the Bar Council of India and offers five-year integrated undergraduate programmes, LL.M. programmes and a Ph.D. in Law.

The conference also involves the Karnataka Institute for Law and Parliamentary Reforms (KILPAR), established in 2005 under the Karnataka Department of Law, Justice, and Human Rights.

About the Opportunity

The One-Day Regional Conference on “Protecting the Rights of Senior Citizens: Contemporary Challenges and Perspectives” focuses on contemporary legal, policy and governance perspectives concerning elder rights amid India’s growing ageing population.

The call for papers invites original research papers and abstracts addressing legal, policy and governance issues concerning senior citizens in alignment with the conference theme and notified sub-themes. Selected peer-reviewed papers will be considered for publication in the Conference Proceedings with an ISBN.

The conference is scheduled to take place on November 13, 2026.

Deadline

The last date for abstract submission is September 20, 2026.

The last date for registration and fee payment is October 10, 2026, while the full paper submission deadline is October 31, 2026.

Theme

The main theme of the conference is “Protecting the Rights of Senior Citizens: Contemporary Challenges and Perspectives.”

The sub-themes include:

Legal Framework for Protection of Senior Citizens, including constitutional and human rights, the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, elder abuse, legal aid, ADR and comparative elder law.
Health, Social Security and Inclusive Governance, including healthcare rights, mental health, pensions, age-friendly policies, local governance and disaster management.
Technology, Digital Inclusion and Financial Protection, including digital literacy, cybercrime and fraud, telemedicine, AI in elder care, digital banking security and data privacy.
Family, Society and Sustainable Ageing, including family structures, intergenerational equity, SDGs, NGO roles and age-friendly societies.

Fee

The registration fee for academicians and professionals is ₹500.

The registration fee for students and research scholars is ₹300.

Joint authors must each register and pay separately.

Roles & Responsibilities

Legal Research

Participants may submit original and unpublished research addressing legal, policy and governance issues concerning senior citizens. Submissions must align with the main theme or one of the notified sub-themes.

Academic Writing

Abstracts must be between 250 and 300 words and include the title, author name(s), institutional affiliation, email address and three to five keywords. The abstract should state the research objective, methodology, key findings and conclusion.

Full papers must be between 4,000 and 6,000 words, including footnotes, and follow the Bluebook (21st Edition) citation style. Submissions must be prepared in Times New Roman, with font size 12 for the main text and 10 for footnotes, and use 1.5 line spacing.

The full paper should include an abstract, keywords, introduction, main text, conclusion and references. Both abstracts and full papers must be submitted in MS Word (.doc or .docx) format.
