NLSIU’s Chair on Consumer Law invites students and young creators to participate in a national online poster competition on consumer protection.
About Chair on Consumer Law, National Law School of India University
The Chair on Consumer Law at the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru is dedicated to research, teaching, advocacy and outreach concerning consumer rights and consumer protection jurisprudence in India. It works with regulators, civil society and academia to strengthen the consumer movement and public awareness of consumer rights and remedies.
The Consumer Law Awareness Programme (CLAP), NLSIU is the Chair’s student-led outreach initiative, conducting campaigns, workshops, publications and creative competitions to make consumer law accessible to students and the public.
About the Opportunity
The Chair on Consumer Law, NLSIU is organising its 1st National Online Poster Making Competition on Contemporary Issues & Themes in Consumer Protection. Participants are invited to create an original poster addressing a contemporary consumer protection issue, explaining a consumer right or remedy, or encouraging responsible and informed consumption.
The competition is open nationally and encourages participants to communicate consumer protection issues through visually compelling, factually sound and accessible designs.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students enrolled in a recognised school, college or university in India may participate, regardless of discipline or academic level.
- Undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and school students are eligible.
- Young creators up to 30 years of age may also participate.
- The competition is individual and group entries are not permitted.
- Each participant may submit only one entry.
- The poster must be the participant’s original and unpublished work.
Duration
The competition window will remain open from August 15, 2026, to September 30, 2026.
Mode
The competition will be conducted online, with entries submitted through the official online submission form.
Deadline
The last date for submission is September 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM IST. No entries will ordinarily be accepted after the deadline.
Practice Areas
Participants may choose a contemporary consumer protection theme, including:
- The Consumer Protection Act, 2019: new rights and remedies
- Dark patterns, drip pricing and manipulative design in e-commerce
- Misleading advertisements, surrogate advertising and celebrity endorser liability
- Consumer rights in the digital and platform economy
- Data privacy and algorithmic decision-making as consumer protection concerns
- Product liability, product safety and recall mechanisms
- Food adulteration, labelling and nutritional misinformation
- Digital payments, online financial fraud and cybersecurity for consumers
- Greenwashing and sustainable consumption
- Access to consumer justice, including e-Daakhil, mediation and the three-tier Commission system
- Other genuine contemporary consumer protection themes may also be considered.
Poster Specifications
- The poster should be A3 size, measuring 297 mm × 420 mm, with portrait orientation preferred.
- The file should be submitted in JPEG, PNG or single-page PDF format.
- The minimum resolution is 300 DPI and the colour mode should be RGB.
- The maximum file size is 10 MB.
- The poster may be in portrait or landscape orientation.
- The file name should follow the prescribed format:
PosterCompetition_<FullName>_<StateOfInstitution>.jpg/pdf. - Participants may use digital design software or submit neatly scanned or photographed hand-drawn artwork.
- The poster may be prepared in English or Hindi. Other scheduled languages are permitted with an English translation of all poster text.
- The participant’s name, roll number, institution name, logo or signature must not appear on the poster artwork.
Perks
The first-prize winner will receive ₹10,000, the second-prize winner will receive ₹7,000 and the third-prize winner will receive ₹5,000. Each winner will also receive a Certificate of Excellence from the Chair on Consumer Law, NLSIU.
Selected entries may receive a Certificate of Merit and may be featured on NLSIU or CLAP’s official platforms and consumer awareness publications. Participants who submit a compliant entry may request a Certificate of Participation.
Winners are tentatively scheduled to be felicitated on National Consumer Day, December 24, 2026, at the Consumer Law Day event of the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India.
Roles & Responsibilities
Poster Design
Participants must create an original poster addressing one clear consumer protection message or theme. The organisers recommend using a strong headline, supporting visual and concise takeaway or call to action.
Legal Accuracy
Participants should briefly research the relevant legal position and ensure that any legal claim, provision, statistic or other information used in the poster is accurate and properly attributable.
Originality
The submitted poster must be original and unpublished. Plagiarism, copyright infringement and unauthorised use of third-party material may result in disqualification.

Along with the poster file, participants must submit their full name, contact number and email, institution or organisation name, a 2–3 line description of the poster’s message and a self-declaration of originality.
