LawSikho is hiring an Associate for a full-time role focused on international contract drafting. The position involves teaching and developing expertise in contract drafting across multiple jurisdictions.
The role is suited to experienced drafters who have hands-on experience writing and negotiating contracts and can research and explain legal positions across foreign jurisdictions.
About the Opportunity
The Associate will be responsible for teaching international contract drafting and related professional skills. The role covers contract architecture, key commercial clauses, international agreements, data protection terms, dispute resolution provisions and negotiation techniques.
The selected candidate will also teach the use of AI in drafting workflows and provide guidance on obtaining international drafting work, including positioning, outreach, scoping and pricing.
Mode
The position will be conducted in fully remote mode.
Working Hours
The position is full-time and requires working five days a week.
Remuneration
The selected candidate will receive remuneration of up to ₹40,000 per month along with performance-based incentives.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates should have substantial hands-on experience in drafting and negotiating contracts.
- Candidates should be able to track international legal developments and explain differences in legal positions across jurisdictions.
- Candidates should use AI tools in their daily drafting and research.
- Candidates should be comfortable conducting live classes, clearing doubts and providing written feedback.
- Candidates should be interested in developing curriculum from scratch.
- Candidates need not have practised abroad but should have strong drafting experience and the ability to properly research foreign legal positions.
- In-house counsel, boutique firm associates and experienced freelance drafters may apply.
Roles & Responsibilities
Contract Drafting
The Associate will teach contract architecture from scratch and explain the drafting principles behind commercial agreements.
International Agreements
The role will cover international SaaS, services, licensing and distribution agreements, along with SAFEs, convertible notes, joint venture and shareholder agreements.
Commercial Clauses
The Associate will teach key contractual provisions including indemnities, liability caps, warranties, termination and intellectual property clauses, including how these provisions vary across the US, UK, Canada and Singapore.
Data Protection
The role will cover Data Processing Agreements and data transfer terms under the GDPR and PDPA.
Dispute Resolution
The Associate will teach governing law, arbitration and enforcement clauses applicable to international agreements.
Redlining and Negotiation
The selected candidate will teach redlining techniques and contract negotiation skills.
AI-Assisted Drafting
The role will involve teaching the use of AI in legal drafting workflows while maintaining appropriate verification practices.
International Legal Work
The Associate will also teach strategies for obtaining international drafting work, including Upwork positioning, outreach, scoping and pricing.
