The Department of Legal Affairs, functioning under the Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, is responsible for providing legal advice to various ministries and departments of the Government, handling litigation matters involving the Union of India, and contributing to the development and administration of legal policy and legislative affairs.
About the Internship
The Department of Legal Affairs is inviting applications for its Internship Programme, offering law students an opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to the functioning of the Government’s principal legal department. The internship is designed to familiarize students with legal research, policy-making processes, legislative work, and government legal administration.
Interns will have the opportunity to work closely with officers and legal professionals while gaining practical insights into public law, governance, and legal affairs at the national level.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates pursuing law courses from recognized institutions may apply, subject to the eligibility requirements prescribed by the Department of Legal Affairs.
Nature of Work
Selected interns may be involved in legal research, policy analysis, legislative studies, legal documentation, and other assignments related to the functioning of the Department.
Internship Timings
Interns are required to observe official working hours from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM and maintain regular attendance throughout the internship period.
Important Conditions
Interns are required to maintain strict confidentiality regarding information accessed during the internship and may be required to execute a Non-Disclosure Agreement before joining.
Interns are also expected to adhere to professional conduct standards, departmental policies, and prescribed attendance requirements during the programme.
