About DPIIT
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade operates under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. The department is responsible for formulating and implementing policies relating to industrial development, investment facilitation, startup promotion, intellectual property rights, and internal trade regulation.
Through its internship scheme, DPIIT provides students with structured exposure to public policy implementation, government functioning, and departmental programmes supporting industrial growth and innovation ecosystems.
About the Internship
The DPIIT Internship Scheme is designed to provide students with an opportunity to understand the working culture of the Government of India and gain exposure to schemes and policy initiatives administered by the department.
Selected interns may assist in research-based assignments, policy documentation support, data analysis, and review of sector-specific initiatives connected with industrial development, trade facilitation, innovation policy, and regulatory frameworks.
Applications submitted between March 1 and April 30 are considered for internship positions scheduled between June and August. Applications received during September 1 to October 31 are considered for internship positions scheduled between November and January.
Students may apply for internship durations based on their availability within the prescribed internship cycle.
Mode of Internship
This internship is conducted in an offline format at DPIIT offices depending on departmental requirements.
Location
The internship is typically undertaken at DPIIT offices under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Internship Duration
The duration of the internship ranges from a minimum period of one month to a maximum period of three months depending on the selected internship cycle and availability of the candidate.
Stipend
Selected interns will receive a stipend of ₹10,000 per month subject to satisfactory completion of the internship period.
Number of Interns
A maximum of 20 interns are selected at a time under the DPIIT Internship Scheme.
Eligibility Criteria
Students pursuing graduation, post graduation, or research programmes from recognised universities or institutions within India or abroad may apply.

- Library Management
Students from other academic backgrounds may also be considered depending on departmental requirements.
Applicants may choose an internship duration ranging between one and three months within the available internship cycles.

Certificate
Interns who successfully complete the required internship duration will be awarded an experience certificate by the department. Candidates who do not complete the internship satisfactorily may not be eligible for stipend or certification.
