Office of Justice Aravind Kumar invites applications for six-week internships.

About the Internship

The Office of Hon’ble Justice Aravind Kumar, Judge at the Supreme Court of India, is accepting applications for a physical internship for a period of six working weeks on an immediate basis. The internship is intended for eligible law students seeking exposure to judicial functioning at the Supreme Court level.

Judicial internships at the Supreme Court typically involve assisting with legal research, case note preparation, and review of materials connected with matters listed before the Court. Interns may also observe proceedings and develop familiarity with constitutional, civil, and statutory litigation handled at the apex judicial forum.

The present internship requires full physical availability for the entire duration of six working weeks. Applications for shorter internship periods will not be considered.

Duration of Internship

The internship will be conducted for a period of six working weeks. Candidates applying must confirm their availability for the complete duration, as partial participation or requests for reduced timelines are not accepted under the current selection process.

Applicants are required to clearly specify the internship duration in the subject line of their application email. Applications that do not follow this requirement may not be considered.

Eligibility Criteria

Students meeting the following criteria are eligible to apply:

  • Fourth or final year students of a five-year B.A. LL.B. programme or equivalent
  • Final year students of a three-year LL.B. programme

The eligibility requirement reflects the expectation that applicants possess sufficient academic exposure to constitutional law, statutory interpretation, and legal research methodologies necessary for assisting in judicial work at the Supreme Court level.

Candidates should ensure that their academic status at the time of application corresponds with the eligibility requirements specified for the internship.

Nature of Work

Interns selected for the programme may assist the office in tasks connected with judicial functioning. While the exact responsibilities depend on the requirements of the office during the internship period, judicial internships generally involve structured research and documentation support.

Typical areas of exposure may include:

  • Legal research on questions arising in pending matters
  • Review of case files and statutory materials
  • Assistance in preparation of research notes where required
  • Observation of court proceedings before the Supreme Court of India
  • Exposure to procedural aspects of appellate litigation

Such internships are designed to familiarise students with judicial reasoning processes and the functioning of chambers at the Supreme Court level.

Selection Process

Due to the large number of applications received by judicial offices, individual status updates may not be communicated to all applicants. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted via email by the office.

Applicants who do not receive communication from the office on or before April 6, 2026 may treat their application as not selected.

Candidates are advised to ensure that their application email complies with the specified subject line requirement, as non-compliant applications may not be considered.

Application Requirements
