The High Court of Delhi invites applications from eligible advocates practising before the Court for appointment as Oath Commissioners.
About the High Court of Delhi
High Court of Delhi is one of India’s leading constitutional courts exercising original, appellate, and supervisory jurisdiction over the National Capital Territory of Delhi. Established in 1966, the Court plays a significant role in shaping constitutional interpretation, commercial jurisprudence, arbitration law, service law, and public law litigation in India.
The Court regularly appoints Oath Commissioners to facilitate the administration of affidavits, verifications, and attestations required in judicial proceedings. Oath Commissioners assist advocates and litigants by ensuring procedural compliance with affidavit requirements and certification obligations within the Court’s jurisdiction.
Appointment as an Oath Commissioner offers practising advocates an opportunity to contribute directly to court administration while strengthening their professional engagement with litigation practice before the High Court.
About the Opportunity
The High Court of Delhi has issued a notification inviting applications for appointment to 13 posts of Oath Commissioners exclusively for the Delhi High Court.
These appointments are governed by guidelines approved by the Full Court relating to eligibility, tenure, and reappointment conditions applicable across court complexes under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
Selected advocates will be authorised to administer oaths, attest affidavits, verify documents, and perform related certification functions required in court proceedings. The position is an important procedural support role within the judicial ecosystem and is typically offered to advocates actively practising before the Court.
Nature of Work Responsibilities and Exposure
Oath Commissioners perform statutory functions relating to the administration of oaths and affirmations for affidavits submitted before the Court. They verify pleadings, declarations, applications, and supporting documentation required in civil, criminal, and constitutional proceedings.
The role involves ensuring compliance with procedural requirements governing affidavit execution under applicable court rules. Oath Commissioners also certify identity verification of deponents and confirm execution of documents in accordance with prescribed formats.
Through continuous interaction with advocates, litigants, and registry procedures, appointed Oath Commissioners gain structured exposure to filing practices, procedural documentation standards, and affidavit-based litigation workflows before the High Court.
The appointment strengthens an advocate’s institutional association with the Court and enhances familiarity with administrative and procedural aspects of High Court litigation practice.
