The International Moot Court Competition is being organised by the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Chandigarh University, Mohali, to provide students with an international platform to explore contemporary legal issues arising from artificial intelligence and intellectual property rights.
About the Opportunity
The International Moot Court Competition on Artificial Intelligence & Intellectual Property Rights aims to bring together law students from different jurisdictions to deliberate upon emerging legal challenges arising from artificial intelligence, intellectual property, innovation, and technology regulation.
The moot proposition focuses on issues such as AI-generated works, patentability of AI-driven inventions, copyright ownership, algorithmic accountability, data governance, trade secrets, and regulatory challenges associated with emerging technologies. Participants will prepare memorials, conduct legal research, and present oral arguments before judges comprising members of the judiciary, legal practitioners, academicians, policymakers, and industry experts.

The competition will be held from September 24 to September 26, 2026.
Mode
The competition will be conducted in physical mode.

Location
The competition will be held at Block B5, University Institute of Legal Studies, Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab, India.
Remuneration
The organisers have announced the following awards:
- Winner: Cash prize of ₹1,00,000, along with a trophy and certificate.
- Runner-up: Cash prize of ₹50,000, along with a trophy and certificate.
- Best Memorial: Cash prize of ₹11,000 and a certificate.
- Best Mooter: Cash prize of ₹11,000 and a certificate.
- Best Researcher: Cash prize of ₹11,000 and a certificate.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students pursuing three-year LL.B. programmes from recognised institutions.
- Students pursuing five-year integrated law programmes from recognised institutions.
- Each institution may register one or two teams.
- Each team shall comprise two speakers and one researcher (or as prescribed by the rules).

Interested teams may apply through the official online registration form.
Applicants are required to:
- Complete the online registration form.
- Pay the prescribed registration fee.
- Upload proof of payment.
- Wait for the confirmation email from the organisers.
Participants must also prepare memorials for both sides in accordance with the prescribed competition guidelines.
