About Hashiya Socio-Legal Centre for Women

Hashiya Socio-Legal Centre for Women is a socio-legal initiative working to advance access to justice, rights awareness, and institutional accountability for women in vulnerable and marginalised settings. The organisation engages in research, documentation, legal empowerment initiatives, and advocacy-based interventions focusing on gender justice and systemic reform.

Through its prison-related work, Hashiya addresses issues affecting incarcerated women and children, including access to legal aid, rehabilitation support, documentation of institutional conditions, and policy engagement with justice delivery mechanisms. Organisations working in custodial justice environments contribute significantly to strengthening legal literacy, monitoring compliance with rights frameworks, and improving access to procedural safeguards for vulnerable populations.

The MEL and Documentation Officer role forms part of these institutional efforts by strengthening monitoring frameworks and supporting evidence-based programme implementation.
