CLRS VidhiAagaz invites applications for paid legal research and editorial internships.
About the Organisation
The Centre for Legal Research and Studies (CLRS) operates as the academic research arm of VidhiAagaz, a legal initiative dedicated to advancing scholarship, research dialogue, and academic engagement across multiple areas of law. VidhiAagaz functions as a global consortium comprising more than 50 academicians and professionals working across six countries, contributing to interdisciplinary legal discourse and collaborative research initiatives.
Registered under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, VidhiAagaz has developed a structured academic platform for students and researchers interested in contributing to scholarly publications, editorial processes, and legal awareness initiatives. Through CLRS, the organisation promotes academic writing standards, supports student-led research development, and facilitates participation in conferences, journals, and collaborative intellectual projects.
The centre plays an important role in encouraging early-stage researchers and law students to participate in academic publishing workflows and structured legal scholarship environments.
About the Opportunity
The Centre for Legal Research and Studies under VidhiAagaz is inviting applications for five internship positions in its research and editorial division. This internship is designed for students and recent graduates interested in academic legal research, journal editing processes, and scholarly writing development.
Selected interns will assist the editorial team of the VA Journal and contribute to research-based academic initiatives undertaken by the organisation. The internship also provides opportunities to support academic event coordination, enabling participants to gain exposure to conference organisation and scholarly outreach activities.
This opportunity is particularly valuable for students planning careers in legal academia, policy research, journal publication, or higher legal studies such as LL.M. and doctoral programmes.
Nature of Work and Responsibilities
Interns selected under this programme will primarily assist journal editors in managing editorial workflows, reviewing submissions, and supporting formatting and citation compliance processes. They will also contribute to research assignments on contemporary legal issues across multiple subject areas.
Participants may be involved in preparing research notes, assisting with academic article development, and supporting content review processes required for publication. Exposure to editorial standards followed in academic journals helps interns understand citation styles, formatting requirements, and manuscript evaluation procedures.
In addition to editorial responsibilities, interns will assist in organising academic events hosted by the organisation. These activities may include coordinating communications, preparing background materials, and supporting programme execution during workshops, webinars, and conferences.
Such structured involvement enables participants to develop both research proficiency and editorial competence in academic legal environments.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to the following candidates:
Students enrolled in LL.B., B.A. LL.B., LL.M., or equivalent law programmes at recognised institutions in India
Recent law graduates interested in research and editorial work
Applicants with good working knowledge of formatting academic research documents
Candidates possessing strong communication skills and attention to detail
Preference will be given to three interns from the senior years of law programmes, including the third to fifth year of five-year courses and the second or third year of three-year LL.B. programmes, or recent graduates. Two positions are reserved for early-year law students from the first or second year of five-year programmes or the first year of three-year LL.B. courses.
Skills Benefits and Learning Outcomes
Interns participating in this programme will gain practical exposure to academic legal research and editorial processes followed in scholarly publications. Working closely with journal editors allows participants to understand manuscript screening procedures, citation verification techniques, and formatting standards required for publication-quality writing.
The internship also helps participants improve their legal writing clarity, analytical reasoning, and research structuring abilities. Experience in organising academic events further strengthens organisational and professional communication skills.
Participants demonstrating strong performance may be considered for long-term internship engagement with an increased monthly stipend after the initial internship phase. This creates opportunities for sustained academic collaboration and deeper involvement in research projects.
Students planning careers in legal academia, research organisations, policy institutions, or postgraduate legal education will find this internship particularly beneficial.
Duration Mode Location and Stipend
This internship will be conducted in online mode, allowing participants to work remotely from their respective locations.
Selected interns will receive a stipend of Rs. 2,000 during the first month to cover associated expenses. Based on performance and organisational requirements, interns may be considered for continuation after three months with a monthly stipend of Rs. 5,000 under an extended engagement arrangement.
Interns are expected to dedicate approximately two to three hours per day on weekdays, with additional availability required on Sundays. Full-day participation may be required during scheduled academic event days, typically conducted on weekends.
