The Editorial Board of the GNLU Student Law Review has officially announced the launch of the GSLR Blog, a dedicated platform for legal scholarship, commentary, and discussion on contemporary issues in law, governance, and public policy.
The GSLR Blog aims to create a space where students, academicians, and legal practitioners can contribute short-form analytical pieces addressing emerging legal debates and policy developments. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis, allowing contributors to publish timely commentary on evolving legal issues.
The platform seeks to promote thoughtful and rigorous engagement with legal questions affecting governance, regulation, and constitutional discourse.
About the GSLR Blog
The GSLR Blog is an initiative of the Gujarat National Law University Student Law Review, the flagship student-run law journal of the university.
The blog is designed to complement the traditional law review format by publishing short, accessible, and timely articles addressing contemporary legal and public policy questions.
While law reviews typically publish lengthy academic research papers, the blog format allows for faster publication and broader accessibility, encouraging students and scholars to engage with recent legal developments, judicial decisions, legislative reforms, and policy debates.
Through this initiative, the editorial board aims to foster a culture of critical legal analysis, academic writing, and scholarly dialogue among members of the legal community.

About the Call for Submissions
The GSLR Blog welcomes submissions from a wide range of contributors including:
- Law students
- Academicians
- Legal researchers
- Policy analysts
- Legal practitioners
Articles submitted to the blog must address relevant and contemporaneous issues in law or public policy. Contributors are encouraged to critically analyse recent developments such as:
- Landmark judicial decisions
- Legislative reforms
- Regulatory changes
- Emerging areas of law
- Public policy debates
- Comparative legal developments
The blog particularly encourages submissions that provide clear legal reasoning, well-supported arguments, and practical insights into contemporary legal challenges.
Since the blog operates on rolling submissions, contributors may submit their manuscripts at any time during the year.
Ethical Disclosure Requirement
To ensure the integrity and neutrality of published content, the editorial board has introduced specific disclosure requirements.
The blog does not publish articles written by individuals directly involved in the matter in a legal, representative, or advisory capacity. This includes:
- Lawyers representing parties involved in the case
- Consultants advising interested parties
- Employees of organisations directly connected to the matter
Authors who may have advised parties in a particular matter—for instance by providing expert opinions or participating in proceedings—are required to contact the editorial board before submitting their article.
This policy helps maintain academic neutrality and credibility in legal commentary.
Submission Guidelines
Authors submitting articles to the GSLR Blog must adhere to the following guidelines:
Word Limit and Format
Submissions should be between 800 and 1,200 words. The editorial board may exercise discretion in exceptional cases where the topic requires a different length.
The manuscript must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.docx).
Anonymisation Requirement
The manuscript must not contain the name of the author or any institutional affiliation.
All identifying details must be removed from the manuscript file to ensure a fair and unbiased editorial review process.
Author details should instead be provided separately in the submission form or in the email body.
Abstract and Keywords
Each submission must include:
- A short abstract of up to 50 words
- Five keywords that describe the central theme of the article
These elements help the editorial team categorise and index submissions effectively.
Co-authorship
The blog permits co-authorship of up to three authors per article.
This allows collaborative writing and interdisciplinary contributions, particularly in areas involving law and public policy.
Author Biography
Authors must provide a brief author biography and institutional affiliation in the submission form or email body.
This information will be used for publication if the article is accepted.
Expedited Review Option
The editorial board recognises that some topics may lose relevance quickly due to changing legal or policy developments.
In such cases, authors may request an expedited review by mentioning “Expedited” in the subject line of their email.
Expedited review requests are particularly relevant for submissions discussing:
- Breaking judicial decisions
- Recent legislative amendments
- Urgent policy debates
