The Essay Writing Competition by CBL NUSRL is organised by the Centre for Business Laws (CBL) at the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi. About the Competition
The Essay Writing Competition 2025 is open to undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. students from recognised universities. It aims to promote in-depth research, analytical reasoning, and structured writing in corporate and commercial law. By participating, students can engage with emerging debates, judicial developments, policy reforms, and global transformations affecting the business law landscape.
This competition serves as a platform for young scholars to critically analyse issues, develop research-driven arguments, and build academic visibility. The winning essays will be recognised for their clarity, originality, and contribution to ongoing discussions in corporate governance, financial markets, and international business law.

Participants may choose from the indicative sub-themes below or write on any related area of contemporary relevance:

Participants must adhere to the following submission criteria:
- Word Limit: 1500–2000 words (excluding footnotes)
- Co-authorship: Allowed up to two authors
- Originality: Essays must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere. Similarity must be below 15%

- Alignment: Justified
- Footnotes:
- OSCOLA (4th edition) strictly

- No descriptive or endnotes allowed
- AI Policy: Strict zero-tolerance for the use of Artificial Intelligence in manuscript preparation
- Copyright: Selected essays’ copyright will vest with CBL, NUSRL
- File Formats: Submit both PDF and editable DOCX versions
- Declaration: Participants must submit an originality declaration as instructed during registration

The Essay Writing Competition by CBL NUSRL is open to:

Participants must display strong analytical skills, quality legal research, and the ability to present arguments with clarity and academic rigour. Essays must strictly adhere to the originality and formatting requirements. Any instance of plagiarism or AI-generated content will lead to disqualification, as the competition maintains high academic standards.
Submissions must reflect contemporary relevance, a strong conceptual foundation, and practical or policy-oriented insights into corporate and commercial law.
Prizes
The winners of the competition will receive:
- Winner: ₹5,000 + Certificate of Merit
- First Runner-Up: ₹3,000 + Certificate of Merit
- Second Runner-Up: ₹2,000 + Certificate of Merit
- All Participants: Certificate of Participation
