About Xavier Law School
Xavier Law School (XLS), established in August 2019 by Mr. Pinaki Chandra Ghosh, former Lokpal of India, is a constituent law school of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata. It offers B.A.LL.B. (Hons.), B.Com.LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M. and Ph.D. programmes in law.

About the Indian Society of Criminology
The Indian Society of Criminology (ISC) is a professional and academic organisation dedicated to criminology, criminal justice and related disciplines in India. Established in 1970 at the Department of Criminology, University of Madras, it brings together academicians, researchers, practitioners, legal professionals, police and correctional personnel, psychologists, sociologists and students from India and abroad.
The Society organises conferences, seminars, training programmes and other academic initiatives and publishes the Indian Journal of Criminology. It promotes criminological research, evidence-based criminal justice policy and engagement between researchers and criminal justice practitioners.
About the Opportunity
Xavier Law School, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata, in collaboration with the Indian Society of Criminology, is organising a two-day international conference titled “Emerging Technologies in Criminal Justice Administration: Challenges and Opportunities.”
The conference will examine the growing use of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in policing, investigation, adjudication and criminal justice administration. It will also address concerns relating to privacy, human rights, fairness, accountability and regulatory governance.
Research papers are invited from students, research scholars, academicians and professionals on the broad theme of emerging technologies in criminal justice administration. Papers may address any of the listed sub-themes or another topic related to the broad conference theme.
Duration
The conference will be conducted over two days, on January 14 and 15, 2027.
Mode
The conference will be conducted in hybrid mode, with online and offline participation available.
Location
The offline conference will be held at St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata, West Bengal.
The inauguration on January 14, 2027, is scheduled at Father Albert Huart Hall, Arrupe Building, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata, at 11:00 AM.

Eligibility Criteria
- Research papers are invited from students, research scholars, academicians and professionals.
- Papers may address any of the listed sub-themes or another topic related to the broad conference theme.
- Co-authorship is permitted for up to two authors.
- Each author or co-author must register separately if the abstract is accepted.
- The submission must be original and unpublished work and must not have been submitted, accepted or published elsewhere.
Roles & Responsibilities
Abstract Submission
Participants are required to submit their abstracts by October 3, 2026. Authors of shortlisted abstracts will be notified of acceptance by October 10, 2026.
Full Paper Submission
After acceptance of the abstract, participants must register through the designated link and upload the full paper along with proof of payment. The full paper must be submitted only in Microsoft Word format.
Manuscript Requirements
The article must have a title different from the conference theme and should be between 3,500 and 4,500 words, excluding footnotes. The manuscript must include the theme of the paper, author’s and co-author’s name where applicable, university, institution or organisation, email address and mobile number.
Formatting
The manuscript must use Times New Roman font, 12-point size for the main text and 10-point size for footnotes. The paper should be prepared on A4 paper with 2.54 cm margins and justified alignment throughout.
Citation Style
The conference requires OSCOLA 4th Edition citation style.
Originality and Plagiarism
Submissions must be original and unpublished. Plagiarism may result in rejection. The brochure permits similarity of up to 15% with proper footnoting and AI-generated content up to 5%. Submissions that do not comply with the stated guidelines may be rejected.
Publication
Selected papers with academic merit may be considered for publication in an edited volume with an ISBN, subject to a review process. The Organising Committee will determine which papers are selected for publication.
Registration Fees
Students and scholars will be charged INR 1,000 for online participation and INR 1,800 for offline participation.
Faculty and professionals will be charged INR 1,500 for online participation and INR 2,000 for offline participation.
South Asian participants will be charged USD 35, while other international participants will be charged USD 50.
Deadline
The deadline for abstract submission is October 3, 2026.
The acceptance of abstracts is scheduled for October 10, 2026. The last date for registration is October 30, 2026, and the deadline for submission of the full paper is November 15, 2026.

Application Procedure
