The 12-month fellowship offers professionals an opportunity to contribute to library and knowledge services, data analysis, and evidence-based decision-making at the WIPO Knowledge Center.

About the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations dedicated to promoting innovation and creativity through a balanced and effective international intellectual property system.

The WIPO Knowledge Center (WKC) serves as the custodian of WIPO’s knowledge repository and manages the organization’s physical and digital library collections. It also oversees the dissemination of WIPO publications and supports global intellectual property research through knowledge management and information services.

About the Opportunity

The WIPO Knowledge Center is inviting applications for a 12-month Fellowship within the IP Futures and Knowledge Management Section. The fellowship is intended to provide professionals with practical experience in library services, knowledge management, and data-driven assessment of digital information resources.

The selected Fellow will support the collection, analysis, and reporting of library and knowledge-related data, contribute to the evaluation of digital services, and assist in developing evidence-based strategies to improve discoverability, accessibility, and service delivery.

Duration

The fellowship will be awarded for a period of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal.

Start Date

The anticipated commencement date of the fellowship is October 1, 2026.

Location

The fellowship will be based at WIPO Headquarters, Geneva, Switzerland.

Stipend

The selected Fellow will receive a monthly stipend of CHF 6,000.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must possess at least a first-level degree in Library Science, Information Science, Knowledge Management, or a related field.
  • Applicants must hold a recognised professional qualification.
  • Applicants must have at least two years of professional experience in a library, knowledge management, research support, or related environment.
  • Applicants should have experience collecting, managing, and analysing library or information-related data.
  • Applicants should have experience preparing analytical reports and using spreadsheet software and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent written and spoken English is essential.
  • Knowledge of another WIPO official language is desirable.

Roles & Responsibilities

Data Collection & Analysis

  • Collect, validate, and manage quantitative and qualitative data relating to library services and digital collections.
  • Monitor and analyse usage statistics from library platforms, repositories, websites, and digital services.
  • Identify trends and opportunities to improve services.

Reporting & Assessment

  • Prepare statistical reports for strategic planning and operational decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Evaluate digital resources and services using evidence-based assessment techniques.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and briefing materials.

Knowledge Management

  • Assist in collecting and analysing citation, bibliometric, and altmetric data.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve workflows for data collection and reporting.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
