About the Job
The Vertical Manager – Against Cases position is a senior legal leadership role focused on managing litigation initiated against the organisation. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing litigation strategies, coordinating with external counsels, handling regulatory matters, and ensuring effective defence across civil, criminal, consumer, and regulatory proceedings.
This role is particularly suited for seasoned litigators who possess strong courtroom exposure, exceptional drafting abilities, and the ability to manage complex, high-risk legal matters while balancing business objectives.
Location
This position is based in Goregaon, Mumbai.
Eligibility Criteria
- LL.B. or LL.M. degree is required.
- Minimum 10 years of litigation experience is essential.
- Prior court practice or experience with a reputed law firm is preferred.
- Strong expertise in both civil and criminal litigation is required.
- Excellent drafting, advocacy, and communication skills are essential.
- Experience handling cases filed against organisations will be preferred.
- Exposure to regulatory matters involving RBI, ED, EOW, SEBI, Income Tax authorities, Consumer Forums, and Courts is desirable.
Roles & Responsibilities
Litigation Strategy & Case Management
- Develop and implement litigation strategies for matters filed against the organisation.
- Drive favourable outcomes across legal proceedings.
- Monitor and manage litigation risks.
Civil & Criminal Litigation
- Defend proceedings before civil and criminal courts.
- Manage complex litigation matters across multiple forums.
- Coordinate case preparation and evidence management.
Regulatory Affairs
- Handle matters involving RBI, ED, EOW, SEBI, Income Tax authorities, and other regulators.
- Respond to regulatory communications and notices.
- Coordinate regulatory compliance efforts.
Drafting & Legal Documentation
- Draft and review legal notices, complaints, replies, and representations.
- Oversee litigation documentation and records management.
- Ensure legal documentation is maintained accurately.
External Counsel Management
- Coordinate with external law firms and counsels.
- Monitor litigation progress and legal strategy implementation.
- Evaluate performance and manage legal service providers.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Collaborate with Business, Risk, Compliance, HR, IT, and other departments.
- Provide legal advice on contentious matters.
- Support organisational decision-making from a legal perspective.
