The college conducts seminars, conferences, debates, and national-level moot court competitions to promote practical legal learning. Its Unity Moot Court Committee facilitates mooting activities and has organised the competition over the years.
About the Opportunity
The Unity Moot Court Committee, Unity P.G. College, Lucknow, is organising the 11th Justice Murtaza Husain Memorial Moot Court Competition 2026 as a national-level moot court competition.
The competition is designed to provide law students with an opportunity to develop legal research, drafting, analytical reasoning, and oral advocacy skills through a simulated courtroom experience.
The moot problem, titled โThe Leasing of Sal Van Forest,โ concerns the lease of a Scheduled Area forest to a private mining company without the consent of the local Gram Sabhas. The proposition raises issues concerning the Forest Rights Act, PESA, the Fifth Schedule, environmental clearances, arbitrary State action, and the rights of displaced Adivasi communities.

The competition will be conducted from October 23 to October 25, 2026.

The competition will be held at Unity P.G. College, Lucknow.
Eligibility Criteria
The competition is open to students currently pursuing:
- 3-Year LL.B.
- 5-Year Integrated LL.B.
Participants must be enrolled in recognised institutions in India.
Each team shall consist of two Speakers and one Researcher.
Registration Fee
The registration fee is:
- Without accommodation: โน3,500 per team.
- With accommodation: โน6,000 per team.
Prizes
The competition carries a total cash prize pool of โน56,000.
- Winning Team: โน20,000 and Trophy.
- Runner-Up Team: โน15,000 and Trophy.
- Best Memorial: โน6,000 and Trophy.
- Best Mooter: โน5,000 and Trophy.
- Best Researcher: โน5,000 and Trophy.
- Participation Certificates will be awarded to all participants.
The awards will be presented during the Valedictory Ceremony on October 25, 2026.
