About Raffles University

Raffles University, Neemrana, was established by an Act of the Rajasthan State Legislature and is recognised under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. The University is located in the National Capital Region and offers legal education through its School of Law.

About the Opportunity

The School of Law, Raffles University, in association with Surana & Surana International Attorneys, Chennai, is organising the 9th Surana & Surana and Raffles University Labour Law Moot Court Competition 2026-27.

The competition is a national-level moot focused on labour and employment law. The moot proposition addresses issues concerning AI-enabled workplace monitoring, privacy, algorithmic bias, maternity leave, disability, trade union rights, disciplinary dismissal, collective protest, and workplace security and monitoring guidelines.

Moot Proposition

The moot proposition is titled Aarohi Sen & Others Vs. NeuroPulse Technologies Pvt. Ltd. & Union of Aaryavrat.

The proposition is fictional, and the laws of Aaryavrat are pari materia with the laws of the Republic of India. Teams may raise additional issues or sub-issues provided the fundamental premise of the proposition is not altered.

Issues for Adjudication

The competition will address the following issues:

Whether the use of AI-enabled workplace monitoring violates rights to privacy, dignity and informational autonomy.
Whether alleged algorithmic bias amounts to discrimination or an unfair labour practice.
Whether restrictions imposed on workers’ collective activities violate freedom of association and trade union rights.
Whether dismissal of employees constitutes victimisation or an unfair labour practice.
Whether the Strategic Digital Enterprises (Workplace Security and Monitoring) Guidelines, 2025 are constitutionally valid.

Date

The competition will be held from November 13 to November 15, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

The competition is open to bonafide students pursuing three-year or five-year law programmes in India.
Only one team per institution is permitted.
Each team must comprise two to three members.
Each team must have two speakers and one researcher.
The researcher may argue with permission in case of illness of a speaker.
Teams must use the allotted team code on memorials and other submissions without revealing their institutional identity.

Roles & Responsibilities

Moot Court Advocacy

Teams will participate in the national-level labour law moot and present arguments on the issues arising from the moot proposition.

Legal Research

Participants will research legal issues relating to labour and employment law, including privacy, discrimination, trade union rights, unfair labour practices and workplace monitoring.

Memorial Preparation

Teams will prepare and submit memorials using their allotted team code without disclosing their institutional identity.

Registration

Registration opened on September 1, 2026.

A maximum of 30 teams will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The registration fee is ₹2,000 per team.
