National University of Advanced Legal Studies Kochi is inviting applications for the University Research Fellowship (URF) 2025 for full-time PhD research scholars.

National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi is a statutory university established under The National University of Advanced Legal Studies Act, 2005. The university undertakes academic and research activities in legal education across multiple specialised areas of law and promotes advanced legal scholarship through structured doctoral programmes and institutional research initiatives.

As part of its academic mandate, the university institutes fellowships and scholarships to support research scholars enrolled in doctoral programmes. These fellowships are intended to facilitate sustained academic engagement in legal research and contribute to the development of scholarly work in various branches of law.

Through research support initiatives such as the University Research Fellowship, the university encourages full-time doctoral candidates to pursue structured research contributing to legal scholarship and institutional academic output.

About the Fellowship

The University Research Fellowship (URF) 2025 is intended to support full-time PhD scholars registered with National University of Advanced Legal Studies Kochi. The fellowship is awarded to eligible research scholars to assist them in pursuing doctoral-level legal research under the supervision framework of the university.

The fellowship is awarded by the Executive Council of the university on the recommendation of a selection committee constituted by the Vice-Chancellor. The number of fellowships to be awarded each year is determined by the Executive Council based on institutional requirements and availability of resources.

The tenure of the fellowship may extend up to a maximum period of three years, subject to applicable university regulations governing doctoral research programmes. The amount of fellowship and contingent grant is prescribed by the university from time to time in accordance with institutional norms.

Eligibility Criteria

Applications are invited from full-time research scholars who are already registered as PhD candidates at National University of Advanced Legal Studies Kochi. Applicants must submit their fellowship applications in the prescribed format along with required supporting documents as specified in the fellowship notification.
