Madhusudan Law University, Cuttack, has opened registrations for the Sri Vishwanath Pasayat Memorial State Level Moot Court Competition 2026, to be held on October 7-8.

About Madhusudan Law University

Madhusudan Law University, Kataka, was established on the 28th of April, 2021, on the birth anniversary of the eminent freedom fighter and visionary Madhusudan Das. The University has centralised the affiliation of nearly all law colleges in the State of Odisha to ensure a standardised, high-calibre curriculum.

The University is organising the competition through its Moot Court Committee.

About the Competition

The Vishwanath Pasayat Memorial Moot Court Competition carries forward the legacy of Sri Vishwanath Pasayat, a distinguished lawyer of Cuttack revered for his lifelong commitment to justice for the poor and the underprivileged. Instituted in his honour in collaboration with the Vishwanath Pasayat Memorial Committee, Cuttack, the competition has been held at the state level since 2014.

Madhusudan Law University is hosting the Sri Vishwanath Pasayat Memorial State Level Moot Court Competition 2026, its first-ever state level moot court competition, open to legal institutions across Odisha. The competition aims to give aspiring advocates from across Odisha a rigorous opportunity to engage with contemporary legal issues. This year’s proposition touches upon the intersecting frontiers of digital rights, privacy, and constitutional law.

Event Dates

The competition will be held on October 7-8, 2026. The preliminary round and quarter-final round will take place on October 7, and the semi-final round and final round on October 8, 2026.

Venue

The competition will be held at the Main Campus, Madhusudan Law University, Kataka.

Registration Fee

The registration fee is ₹1,500 per team. Registration is to be done as a team, with a one-time fee of ₹1,500 per team; individual members are requested not to register separately.

  • Commencement of Registration: September 11, 2026.
  • Last Date of Registration: September 20, 2026.
  • Team Code Allotment: September 21, 2026.
  • Last Date for Seeking Clarifications: September 20, 2026.
  • Release of Clarifications: September 21, 2026.
  • Last Date for Submission of Memorial (Soft Copy): September 28, 2026.
  • Last Date for Submission of Memorial (Hard Copy): October 1, 2026.
  • Exchange of Memorial and Researcher’s Test: October 6, 2026.
  • Preliminary Round and Quarter-Final Round: October 7, 2026.
  • Semi-Final Round and Final Round: October 8, 2026.
  • Declaration of Results and Valedictory Ceremony: to be notified later.

Awards

Awards will be presented in the following categories: Winner (Best Team), First Runners-Up, Second Runners-Up, Best Speaker, Best Researcher and Best Memorial.
