The NUALS Moot Court Society has opened registrations for The NUALS Moot 2026 – Third Edition, a hybrid moot court competition on International Taxation with prizes worth more than ₹1 lakh.
About the Organiser
The NUALS Moot Court Society (MCS) is the Moot Court Society of the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS). It is recognised for organising the NUALS International Maritime Law Arbitration Competition (NIMLAC) and brings together practitioners and academicians specialising in international taxation and corporate law.
About the Opportunity
The NUALS Moot (TNM) – Third Edition 2026 is a national-level moot court competition organised by the NUALS Moot Court Society. The competition focuses on international taxation and takes participants into the fictional world of Kerenia, where a cross-border investment dispute arises at the intersection of international tax treaty protection and anti-avoidance law.
Mode
The competition will be conducted in hybrid mode. The preliminary rounds and quarter-finals will be held online, and the semi-finals, finals and valedictory ceremony will be held offline at the NUALS campus in Kochi.
Competition Structure
- Preliminary Rounds: all registered teams will participate in the online preliminary rounds.
- Quarter-Finals: the top eight teams will compete in the online quarter-finals.
- Semi-Finals and Finals: the four winning teams will advance to the semi-finals, finals, and valedictory ceremony at the NUALS campus in Kochi.
Eligibility Criteria
- The competition is open to students enrolled in a full-time three-year or five-year law course.
- International teams may participate with the permission of the Moot Court Society.
- A maximum of 32 teams will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
- A maximum of two teams may participate from one institution.
- Teams must submit a bona fide certificate or no-objection certificate from their institution.
Team Composition
Each team must comprise two to five members.
Prizes
- Winner: ₹50,000.
- Runner-up: ₹25,000.
- Best Memorial: ₹15,000.
- Best Speaker (Preliminary Rounds): ₹5,000.
- Best Speaker (Finals): ₹5,000.
Registration Fee
The registration fee is ₹4,000 per team. An additional ₹5,000 is payable for the offline rounds, which covers accommodation charges for a three-member team. For teams comprising more than three members, the accommodation fee will increase proportionately.
Registration will be considered final only after payment of the registration fee and submission of the requisite team details. Slots will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis.

- Release of Clarifications: September 22, 2026.
- Team Registration Deadline: October 3, 2026, by 11:59 PM IST.
- Memorial Submission Deadline: October 13, 2026.
- Inauguration Ceremony and Orientation: October 16, 2026, online.
- Preliminary Rounds and Quarter-Finals: October 17-18, 2026, online.
- Semi-Finals, Finals and Valedictory Ceremony: October 24, 2026, offline at the NUALS campus, Kochi.
