About the Organiser

The School of Law, ITM University-Gwalior is organising the 3rd Arun Jaitley Memorial National Moot Court Competition. The School of Law is recognised by the University Grants Commission and approved by the Bar Council of India. It is established under an Act of the Madhya Pradesh State Legislature and sponsored by Samta Lok Sansthan.

The School of Law aims to integrate legal education with practical training and prepare students for roles in litigation, corporate law, mediation, policy-making and academia.

About the Competition

The 3rd Edition of the Arun Jaitley Memorial National Moot Court Competition pays tribute to late Shri Arun Jaitley and connects theoretical legal education with courtroom advocacy. The national moot court competition 2026 will require participants to conduct legal research, draft memorials and present oral pleadings before panels comprising senior advocates, academicians and judges. Competition Dates

The competition will be held from October 30 to November 1, 2026.

Mode and Venue

The competition will be conducted offline, except for the draw of lots and memorial exchange, which will take place online. The venue is the School of Law, Ramanujan Block, Sithouli Campus, ITM University, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India.

Eligibility Criteria

• Students enrolled in a full-time 3-year LL.B. course may participate.
• Students enrolled in a full-time 5-year integrated LL.B. course may participate.
• The participating university, college or institution must be recognised by the Bar Council of India.

Team Composition

Each team must comprise three members: two speakers and one researcher.

Competition Structure

• Preliminary rounds
• Quarter-finals
• Semi-finals
• Finals
• Researcher test
• Online draw of lots and memorial exchange

Registration Fee

The registration fee is ₹4,000 per team. The fee excludes accommodation. Participants may arrange accommodation independently or use nearby recommended hotel tie-ups.

Memorial Submission Guidelines

Memorials must be submitted in both Word and PDF formats by email to mootcourt@itmuniversity.ac.in by October 23, 2026. Four physical copies of the memorial for each side, together with compendiums, must be submitted at the registration desk on Day 1.

• Memorials must follow the 21st Edition Bluebook citation standards.
• Teams must follow the prescribed team-code naming protocols.

Prizes and Awards

• Winner: ₹71,000, trophy and Certificate of Merit.
• Runner-up: ₹51,000, trophy and Certificate of Merit.
• Best Memorial: ₹11,000, trophy and Certificate of Merit.
• Late Shree Mukesh Gupta Memorial Award for Best Orator: ₹11,000, trophy and Certificate of Merit.
• Best Researcher: ₹11,000, trophy and Certificate of Merit.
• All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation and one month of complimentary SCC Online Web Edition access, stated as worth ₹1,099 per participant.

• Moot-problem clarification deadline: October 6, 2026.
• Clarifications released: October 7, 2026.
• Soft-copy memorial submission: October 23, 2026.
• Online draw of lots and memorial exchange: October 29, 2026.
• Inaugural ceremony and researcher test: October 30, 2026.
• Preliminary rounds and quarter-finals: October 31, 2026.
• Semi-finals, finals and valedictory ceremony: November 1, 2026.

Application Procedure

Eligible teams must complete the ITM University Gwalior moot registration process through the official portal and pay the registration fee by October 5, 2026. Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

The last date for registration and fee payment is October 5, 2026. Memorials must be submitted in Word and PDF formats to mootcourt@itmuniversity.ac.in by October 23, 2026.
