About the Journal

The HPNLU Journal of Tax Law is published by the HPNLU Centre for Business Law and Economics. The Journal (ISSN: 2584-0428) is an annual, double-blind peer-reviewed journal. It aims to promote scholarly research in tax laws, including international taxation and tax policies.

The Journal provides a forum for intellectual discourse on tax laws, tax policies, their impact on individuals, and state welfare policies. It invites contributions from academicians, scholars, professionals, practitioners, researchers, and policymakers.

About the Call

The HPNLU Journal of Tax Law invites scholarly contributions for its Fifth Volume, 2026. The volume is scheduled to be published online in December 2026.

The Journal seeks intellectually rigorous contributions engaging with contemporary legal and theoretical developments in taxation laws and policies, including international taxation and emerging challenges in tax policy. Selection of entries will be based on double-blind peer review.

Theme

Contributions should engage with taxation laws and policies, including international taxation and emerging challenges in tax policy.

Submission Categories

  • Articles: 6,000 to 10,000 words.
  • Essays and Comments: 4,000 to 6,000 words.
  • Book Reviews: 3,000 to 4,000 words. Contributions under this category must be submitted along with a new hard copy of the book.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Submissions are invited from academicians, scholars, professionals, practitioners, researchers, and policymakers.
  • Co-authorship is permitted with up to one co-author.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions must be made in English and accompanied by an abstract of 250 to 300 words. The abstract must expressly state the novelty and usefulness of the proposed idea and specifically identify the contribution of the manuscript beyond the existing literature.

The manuscript must not contain any references to the identity of the author or authors. Authors must also submit a covering letter mentioning the title of the paper, the name, designation, details and institutional affiliation of the author or authors, along with a solemn declaration that the manuscript is original and has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.

Paraphrasing another author’s work will not be considered original work. Sources must be acknowledged.

Formatting Guidelines

The body of the manuscript must be in Times New Roman, font size 12, with 1.5-line spacing. Footnotes must be in Times New Roman, font size 10, with single-line spacing.

Authors must follow the HPNLU-Shimla Citation Style. Manuscripts must use footnotes as the sole method of citation. Lengthy quotations and lengthy or multi-paragraphed footnotes are discouraged. Citations must mention the page or pages of the source. Where court judgments are cited, the footnote must also mention the relevant paragraph of the judgment in addition to the page number of the reporter.

Only authoritative websites may be cited. References to Wikipedia, blogs, commercial websites and similar internet sources are not acceptable. Manuscripts with more than 10% similarity will be rejected.

Copyright in all articles published in the volume will vest in the owner of the Journal. Contributors will be responsible for risks and losses arising from copyright infringement, defamation or contempt.

Important Dates

The submission deadline is October 31, 2026. The Fifth Volume of the Journal is scheduled for online publication in December 2026.

Application Procedure

Authors must email their manuscript in MS Word (.docx) format to jtl@hpnlu.ac.in. The subject line must be: “Submission to HPNLU-JTL-V5 <Title of Contribution>”.

The last date of submission is October 31, 2026.
