About HNLU Journal of Law and Social Sciences (HNLU JLSS)

The Journal of Law and Social Sciences (HNLU JLSS) is a flagship academic publication of Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur. The Journal seeks to promote high-quality legal scholarship and facilitate meaningful discourse on contemporary legal, social, and political issues. It serves as a platform for academicians, legal practitioners, research scholars, students, and domain experts to contribute to emerging legal debates and interdisciplinary research.

HNLU JLSS follows a rigorous double-blind peer review process and is committed to publishing original and impactful scholarship that advances legal research and policy discussions.

About the Call for Papers

HNLU JLSS is inviting original and unpublished manuscripts for publication in Volume XII, Issue I (2026). The Journal welcomes contributions that engage with contemporary legal, socio-political, regulatory, and interdisciplinary issues.

Authors are encouraged to submit well-researched and analytically rigorous manuscripts that contribute to legal scholarship and policy discourse.

Submission Categories

Articles

  • 5,000–10,000 words (inclusive of footnotes)
  • Comprehensive analysis of a legal or socio-political theme.

Essays

  • 3,000–5,000 words (inclusive of footnotes)
  • Focused analysis of contemporary issues.

Case Notes & Legislative Commentaries

  • 2,000–7,000 words (inclusive of footnotes)
  • Critical examination of judicial decisions, legislative developments, and legal reforms.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Academicians may submit manuscripts.
  • Legal practitioners are eligible to contribute.
  • Research scholars may apply.
  • Students are welcome to submit original work.
  • Domain experts working in relevant fields may also contribute.

Submission Guidelines

  • Manuscripts must include an abstract of not more than 250 words.
  • Authors must provide 7–10 keywords.
  • One author may submit only one manuscript.
  • Co-authorship of up to two authors is permitted.
  • Submissions must be in .doc or .docx format.

Formatting Requirements

  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font Size: 12 (main text) and 10 (footnotes)
  • Line Spacing: 1.5 (main text) and 1.0 (footnotes)
  • Citations must conform to the latest edition of The Bluebook.
  • Headings and sub-headings should follow the numbering format prescribed by the Journal.

Publication Policy

  • Submissions must be original and unpublished.
  • Plagiarised manuscripts or works involving copyright violations will be rejected.
  • Selected submissions will undergo a double-blind peer review process.
  • Authors grant HNLU exclusive copyright upon submission.
