HNLU JLSS is accepting Articles, Essays, Case Notes, and Legislative Commentaries on contemporary legal and socio-political issues.

For Volume XII, Issue I (2026), the journal invites original and unpublished manuscripts that contribute to legal research and interdisciplinary discourse.

Submission Categories

Articles

  • Word Limit: 5,000–10,000 words (inclusive of footnotes)
  • Comprehensive and in-depth analysis of a legal theme or issue.

Essays

  • Word Limit: 3,000–5,000 words (inclusive of footnotes)
  • Focused discussion on contemporary legal or socio-political issues.

Case Notes and Legislative Commentaries

  • Word Limit: 2,000–7,000 words (inclusive of footnotes)
  • Analytical examination of judicial decisions, legislative developments, or policy changes.

Eligibility Criteria

Submissions are invited from:

  • Academicians.
  • Legal scholars.
  • Practising lawyers.
  • Research scholars.
  • Students.
  • Domain experts.

Submission Guidelines

Abstract and Keywords

  • Abstract must not exceed 250 words.
  • Manuscripts must include 7–10 keywords.
  • Abstract and keywords are included within the prescribed word count.

Authorship Rules

  • Maximum two authors are permitted per submission.
  • One author may submit only one manuscript, either individually or as a co-author.

Formatting Requirements

  • Font: Times New Roman.
  • Font Size: 12 for main text and 10 for footnotes.
  • Line Spacing: 1.5 for main text and 1.0 for footnotes.
  • Citation Style: Latest edition of The Bluebook.
  • Headings and sub-headings should be bold and numbered in the prescribed format.
  • All paragraphs following headings should begin from the margin without indentation.

File Format

  • Manuscripts must be submitted in .doc or .docx format.
  • File Name Format: Author Name_Title of Submission (e.g., Amit_Kumar_Criminal_Justice_System).

Publication Policy

  • Submissions must be original and unpublished.
  • Plagiarised or copyright-infringing content will be rejected.
  • Selected manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer review process.
  • Authors grant exclusive copyright to HNLU upon submission.
  • Requests for withdrawal after final acceptance will not be entertained.
  • Authors wishing to withdraw a manuscript before acceptance must inform the journal through the designated email address.
