About the NLU Delhi Project

National Law University Delhi (NLUD) is undertaking the project “Preparation of India’s Common Core Document (CCD) and National Report for the Fifth Cycle of Universal Periodic Review (UPR).” The project involves legal and policy research, stakeholder consultations and preparation of reporting documents concerning international human rights standards and obligations.

About the Opportunity

NLU Delhi is recruiting one full-time Research Associate and two Field Researchers. These are contractual appointments for six months, with immediate joining. Selected candidates must remain physically present on the university campus throughout the appointment.

Vacancies and Salary

• Research Associate: one position; ₹50,000 per month, consolidated.
• Field Researchers: two positions; ₹40,000 per month, consolidated.

Duration

Six months, with immediate joining.

Location and Mode

Full-time, on campus at National Law University Delhi, Sector 14, Dwarka, New Delhi–110078.

Eligibility Criteria

Research Associate

• An LL.M. from a recognised Indian or foreign university with a good academic record.
• Understanding of doctrinal and empirical research methodologies, and knowledge of substantive and procedural international human rights law.
• Proficiency in English, MS Office applications and other research tools.
• Prior research-project experience in public international law, international human rights law, criminal law or fundamental rights is desirable.

Field Researchers

• A graduate degree in law or social sciences from a recognised Indian or foreign university, with a good academic record.
• Understanding of qualitative and empirical research methodologies.
• Proficiency in English, with strong written and oral communication skills, and proficiency in MS Office and research and documentation tools.
• Knowledge of statistics or experience in data collection, analysis and documentation is desirable.
• Previous field research, stakeholder consultation or research-project experience in law, human rights, social sciences or related areas is desirable.

Roles & Responsibilities

Research Associate

• Conduct legal and policy research on India’s UPR, international human rights standards and reporting obligations.
• Assist with research methodology, stakeholder identification and consultations.
• Analyse findings and stakeholder inputs for project outputs, and assist in drafting and revising the UPR National Report and CCD.
• Support documentation, progress reporting, quality assurance and other research, drafting and technical tasks.

Field Researchers

• Facilitate stakeholder consultations and coordinate field engagement.
• Collect, document and compile consultation inputs and field data.
• Maintain project and consultation records, and organise research documentation.
• Provide research and logistical support for consultations and other project activities.

Selection Process
