Saveetha School of Law, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS), was established in 2009 to provide legal education, research and professional training. The institution is recognised by the Bar Council of India, approved by the University Grants Commission and accredited with NAAC Grade A++.
Saveetha School of Law offers undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. programmes in law and functions under SIMATS, which was established by the Saveetha Medical and Educational Trust.
About the Opportunity
Saveetha School of Law is organising a Case Comment Writing Competition as part of Law Fest 2026. The competition is intended to encourage law students to critically analyse judicial decisions and develop their legal research, analytical and academic writing skills.
Participants will be required to analyse the legal problem provided by the organisers and prepare a structured case commentary within the prescribed time. The competition will be conducted offline at the Saveetha School of Law campus on 15 September 2026.

The competition will be conducted on 15 September 2026.
Mode
The competition will be conducted entirely in offline mode.
Location
The competition will be held at Saveetha School of Law, Lecture Halls LH-43 and LH-44.
Workload
Participants will have 90 minutes to complete their case commentary. The prescribed word limit is 1,500 to 2,000 words.
Registration Fee
The registration fee is INR 300 per team.
Prizes and Recognition
The winner will receive an INR 2,000 cash prize and a Certificate of Merit.
The next two outstanding participants will receive trophies along with Certificates of Merit.
Certificates of Participation will be awarded to all eligible participants who successfully complete the competition.
Eligibility Criteria
The competition is open to students pursuing:
- Undergraduate law programmes.
- Postgraduate law programmes.
Participants must carry their college identity card for verification at the venue.
Roles & Responsibilities
Legal Research
Participants may use their own curated research while preparing the case commentary. The problem for the competition will be released two days before the event.
Drafting
Participants must prepare an original case commentary of 1,500 to 2,000 words within 90 minutes.
Academic Integrity
- Both authorship and co-authorship are permitted.
- A participant kit will be provided by the organisers.
- Mobile phones, smart devices and unauthorised study materials are prohibited during the competition.
- Plagiarism, malpractice or use of unfair means may result in immediate disqualification.
- Participants are expected to maintain discipline, professionalism and academic integrity throughout the event.
- The decision of the judges and organising committee will be final and binding.
