About Project 39A, National Law University Delhi

Project 39A is the criminal justice research and litigation centre at National Law University Delhi (NLUD). Inspired by Article 39A of the Constitution of India, the Centre works at the intersection of research, academia, litigation, legal aid, access to justice, and criminal justice reform, with a focus on areas such as the death penalty, undertrial incarceration, forensics, torture, and mental health.

National Law University Delhi was established in 2008 under the National Law University Act, 2007, with the objective of imparting comprehensive and interdisciplinary legal education. Through its Articles and Blogs platform, Project 39A seeks to promote informed public scholarship and meaningful engagement with contemporary issues in the criminal justice system.

About the Opportunity

Project 39A is inviting original Articles and Blogs that contribute to criminal law, criminal justice policy, and institutional reform. The publication platform aims to foster critical discussion and encourage evidence-based scholarship that informs legal debate and policy development.

Submissions should present original arguments supported by legal authorities, empirical evidence, or other reliable sources. Contributors are encouraged to write in accessible language while maintaining high standards of academic integrity.

Submission Guidelines

  • Blogs should be between 800–1500 words.
  • Articles should be between 2500–3000 words.
  • The submission must contain a clear and descriptive title.
  • Use Times New Roman, font size 12, single spacing, and 1-inch margins.
  • Include a 50–100 word author bio at the end of the document.
  • The main body of the submission must be anonymised and should not contain the author’s name or identifying details.
  • Authors may optionally submit a headshot for publication.
  • Co-authorship is permitted for up to two authors.
