About the Internship

The Legal Intern will work on privacy, cybersecurity and technology-related legal matters. The role includes reviewing contractual obligations, supporting internal compliance processes and coordinating with IT and information security teams.

Eligibility and Qualifications

Applicants should have the following qualifications:

• An LL.B., B.A. LL.B. or B.B.A. LL.B. qualification.
• Experience in data protection, privacy or technology contracts, preferably within an IT or ITeS company.

An LL.M. or diploma in Cyber Law or Data Privacy is preferred. Certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, ISO 27001 or DCPP will be an advantage.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Review client contracts, Master Services Agreements, Statements of Work, NDAs and vendor agreements from a security, privacy and data protection perspective.
• Review and negotiate Data Processing Agreements, Business Associate Agreements, Standard Contractual Clauses and information security schedules.
• Identify security and privacy obligations the organisation cannot meet and propose alternatives.
• Draft and maintain policies covering information security, data protection, retention, access control and incident response.
• Coordinate with IT and information security teams to implement security measures committed to clients.
• Support compliance with applicable data protection, cybersecurity and privacy laws.
• Handle client security audits, questionnaires and due diligence.
• Manage legal aspects of data breach response and notifications.
• Conduct employee training on data protection and security.

Skills Required

Candidates should demonstrate:

• Strong legal research, analytical and drafting skills.
• Knowledge or specialisation in Cyber Law, Cybersecurity, Data Privacy or Technology Law.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and the ability to interpret legal provisions.
• An interest in corporate legal operations and technology-related compliance.
