About Campus Law Centre

Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, hosts the annual K.K. Luthra Memorial Moot Court Competition. The competition honours the late K.K. Luthra, Senior Advocate, whose legal career began in 1949.

About the Competition

The 23rd edition focuses on criminal law through written memorials and oral arguments on a hypothetical dispute. It takes place from February 12–14, 2027, in Delhi. Teams first compete in a Memorial Selection Round, followed by the oral rounds.

Mode and Venue

The competition is conducted in person. Preliminary rounds, optional octa-finals and quarter-finals are at Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi. The semi-finals, final and prize distribution on February 14 take place at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

Eligibility and Team Composition

  • Undergraduate students pursuing a recognised three-year LL.B., five-year integrated law programme or international equivalent may participate.

  • Teams consist of two speakers and an optional researcher. Composition cannot be changed after registration.
  • An additional fourth member cannot assist during rounds, must pay their own accommodation costs and receives no certificate.

Competition Structure

The top 72 teams by memorial score qualify for oral rounds, subject to scoring at least 8 out of 20. Oral proceedings are in English. Teams argue both sides in the preliminary rounds; subsequent rounds follow the progression prescribed in the rules.

Moot Proposition

The fictional Republic of Solenia dispute concerns digital-device searches, compelled disclosure of passwords and biometric information, self-incrimination, narco-analysis, privacy, journalistic privilege and electronic evidence. Teams should consult the complete proposition and specified legal provisions for their research.
