Policy, Politics and Governance Foundation (PPGF) runs the ICPC Internship Programme, an initiative designed to introduce students to the basics of policymaking, politics and governance.
The programme combines structured learning with practical experience and mentorship from individuals with experience in political and policy consulting across various states.
About the Opportunity
The ICPC Internship Programme provides students with an opportunity to explore the political and policymaking ecosystem through online training and an in-office internship.
The programme consists of two modules. The first module provides a structured, self-paced online learning experience, while the second involves practical work in political offices and with organisers, including exposure to political strategy-making.
Programme Structure
Online Training
The first module consists of structured, self-paced online training covering the basics of policymaking, politics and governance.
In-Office Internship
The second module provides real-world experience working in political offices and with organisers, including involvement in political strategy-making.
Mentorship
Interns will be mentored by individuals with experience in political and policy consulting across various states.
Duration
Interns are expected to stay in the programme for four months on a non-continuous basis.
Students may self-pace the programme according to their academic commitments over a period of not more than nine months.
Mode
The programme includes both online and offline modules.
Stipend
A lump-sum stipend of ₹5,000 is provided for the training module, based on tasks that can be spread out due to academic commitments.
Certification
Interns who complete both modules will receive a course completion certificate from the Policy, Politics and Governance Foundation.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students from all academic backgrounds can apply.
- The programme is especially recommended for final-year and penultimate-year students.
- Applicants interested in pursuing careers in political or policy strategy consulting after graduation are particularly encouraged to apply.
Roles & Responsibilities
Policy Research
Interns will explore the basics of policymaking and governance as part of the programme.
Political Strategy
The in-office module will provide practical exposure to political strategy-making.
Professional Development
Participants will develop skills relevant to working with political leaders and administrators and gain exposure to political and policy consulting.
Networking
The programme provides access to a network of professionals and former interns working in political campaigns and offices of political and administrative leaders.
