About the Opportunity
Neev Foundation for Legal Aid is inviting applications for two internship positions. Interns will assist the team with litigation work and the execution of its community engagement strategy.
The internship will involve community engagement, fieldwork, legal research, legal documentation and support for litigation and legal aid, depending on the intern’s skills, knowledge and experience.
Number of Positions
There are two internship positions available.
Duration
The preferred internship period is 6–8 weeks, which may be extended.
Mode
The internship will be conducted offline. Interns are required to physically attend the office, and online internships are not offered.
Location
The internship will be based at the Neev Foundation for Legal Aid office in Mayur Vihar, Delhi.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must be enrolled in a 3-year or 5-year law programme or MSW.
- Preference will be given to final-year students.
- Candidates pursuing postgraduate or higher academic courses are also encouraged to apply, including those without prior work experience.
- Candidates should have an interest in Women’s Rights and Human Rights.
- Candidates should possess strong skills in mobilization, public outreach, project management and content development, or strong skills in legal documentation, legal processes, laws and the judicial system.
- Candidates should have good organisational skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Candidates should be able to read documents and prepare reports in Hindi and English.
- Candidates should have an interest in social justice, democratic rights of vulnerable groups and law.
- Candidates should be willing to learn, unlearn and relearn.
- Candidates must be willing to travel extensively in remote parts of Delhi.
Experience with civil society organisations, community engagement and fieldwork, legal documentation, and strong oral and written communication skills will be an added advantage.
Roles & Responsibilities
Community Engagement
- Familiarize themselves with the objectives, history and outcomes of ongoing projects.
- Execute activities related to community engagement and social justice.
- Assist with fieldwork and community engagement activities.
- Anchor discussions for public meetings organised by the organisation.
- Help establish new collaborations.
Legal Research
- Conduct secondary research and read policy documents.
- Prepare comprehensive summaries on current topics related to the organisation’s agenda.
Legal Documentation & Litigation Support
- Support the team in legal documentation and court cases.
- Assist the team of lawyers in litigation and providing legal aid, based on skills, knowledge and experience.
- Prepare reports and assist with editing and translating briefs and legal documentation.
Content Development
- Translate legal information into publications suitable for lay readers and audiences.
- Assist in writing press notes and developing flyers, memos, pamphlets and similar publications.
