SILP invites original blog submissions on the International Court of Justice for a special edition marking its 80th anniversary.
About Society of International Law and Policy
The Society of International Law and Policy (SILP) at West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata, is organising a special edition of the SILP Blog to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
The ICJ, the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, held its inaugural sitting in April 1946. The special edition will examine its contribution to international law and its role in a changing world order.
About the Opportunity
SILP is inviting original and engaging blog submissions for its Special Edition on 80 Years of the International Court of Justice.
The Call seeks critical and contemporary perspectives on the Court’s jurisprudence, institutional role, challenges and future trajectory. Contributors may examine the Court’s contribution to international law, emerging areas of international law, questions of jurisdiction and compliance, and the legitimacy and effectiveness of international adjudication.
The sub-themes are suggestive and non-exhaustive. Innovative and interdisciplinary perspectives that meaningfully engage with the broad theme are also welcome.

Commemorating 80 Years of the International Court of Justice: The Court’s Role in Contemporary International Law Amidst a Changing World Order and Its Future
Submission Categories
- Long Articles & Discussions: 2,000–2,500 words.
- Short Articles: 1,000–1,500 words.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students, researchers, academicians, practitioners and other individuals interested in contemporary international law and the work of the International Court of Justice may submit.
- Submissions must engage with the International Court of Justice, its jurisprudence, contemporary international law or related issues arising from the broader theme.
- Submissions must be original and unpublished.
- Contributors should demonstrate substantive engagement with the chosen issue and offer a clear and well-supported argument.

- References must be provided through hyperlinks within the text.
- All submissions must comply with the SILP Blog Submission Guidelines.
- Submissions must be made strictly through the designated submission form.
