About the Opportunity
The National Seminar titled “Motherhood and Child Well-Being of Imprisoned Women: Legal and Socio-Economic Perspectives” is being organised as part of an ICSSR-sponsored research project studying incarcerated women and their children in Delhi jails.
The seminar will examine the socio-legal impact of incarceration on motherhood and child welfare and provide a platform for interdisciplinary discussion on legal, health, human rights, and policy concerns affecting imprisoned mothers and their children.
Participants may submit research papers addressing the seminar’s listed themes. Authors whose abstracts are accepted will be required to submit and present their papers in the assigned sessions.
Duration
The seminar will be held as a one-day programme on September 9, 2026.
Mode
The seminar will be conducted in hybrid mode. Participants from the NCR are required to attend offline, while non-NCR participants may attend either online or offline.

The offline seminar will be held at Umang Bhawan, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, New Delhi – 110007.
Deadline
The extended deadline for abstract submission is September 1, 2026. Abstract acceptance will be notified on September 3, 2026, and the full paper with plagiarism report is due by September 5, 2026.

Roles & Responsibilities
Legal Research
Participants may undertake research on the legal, constitutional, human rights, healthcare, and policy dimensions of imprisonment affecting women and children.
Paper Submission
Authors must submit an original and unpublished abstract of 300–500 words containing the objectives, methodology, data sources, and keywords. Following acceptance, the full paper must be submitted through the designated Google Form.
Paper Presentation
Authors whose papers are accepted must present their papers in their assigned sessions. At least one co-author must present the paper in person to receive a certificate.
The abstract must be 300–500 words and include the title, objectives, methodology, data sources, and keywords. It should be original and unpublished.
The abstract should be prepared in MS Word using Times New Roman, 12-point font, with 1.5 line spacing. The cover page should contain the title, author name, institution, email address, and phone number.
After abstract acceptance, the full paper must be submitted through the Google Form. The full paper should be 5,000–8,000 words, excluding footnotes, and should follow APA 7th Edition for citations. Full papers presented at the seminar may be considered for publication in reputed national and international journals, subject to ICSSR’s permission. A Best Presenter Award will also be given for outstanding presentation.
