About the NLUD Journal on Labour
The NLUD Journal on Labour is published by the Centre for Labour Law Research and Advocacy at National Law University, Delhi. It is a double-blind, peer-reviewed annual journal focusing on interdisciplinary scholarship on labour.
The Third Issue (2026–27) focuses on the theme “Technology, Labour and Governance” and welcomes contributions from scholars, researchers, practitioners and activists.
About the Opportunity
The journal is accepting submissions for its upcoming issue under the theme “Technology, Labour and Governance.” Contributors may explore contemporary issues concerning technology, labour rights, social protection, governance and the changing nature of work.
Suggested areas include AI and automation, algorithmic management in the gig economy, worker privacy and workplace surveillance, digital public infrastructure, technology and labour inspection, digital identity and informal workers, and migrant workers and welfare portability.
Types of Submissions
Special Articles
Special Articles should be between 8,000 and 10,000 words and should contribute to theoretical or empirical knowledge within the thematic area.
Short Articles
Short Articles should be between 5,000 and 8,000 words. Authors are encouraged to address themes of contemporary relevance. Both empirical research and theoretical pieces offering new insights are welcome.
Insights/Perspectives
Insights/Perspectives should be between 3,500 and 4,500 words and may address contemporary developments or futuristic solutions to labour-related issues.
Book Reviews/Case Notes
Book Reviews and Case Notes should be between 2,500 and 3,000 words. Case Notes must concern landmark Supreme Court or High Court decisions on labour issues.
Field Notes/Pictorial Commentaries
Field Notes/Pictorial Commentaries should be 1–2 pages and may include methodological material, field narratives, experiences or pictorial representations.
Eligibility Criteria
- The call is open to scholars, researchers, practitioners and activists interested in labour issues.
- Submissions should engage with the theme “Technology, Labour and Governance” or a relevant contemporary labour issue.
- All submissions, except Book Reviews, must be accompanied by an abstract of not more than 300 words and five important keywords.
Submission Guidelines
- All word limits are inclusive of footnotes.
- Referencing and citations must follow APA Citation style.
- Submissions using any other citation style will not be considered.
- The manuscript body should use Times New Roman, font size 12, with 1.5 line spacing.
- Footnotes should use Times New Roman, font size 10, with single line spacing.
- A one-line gap should be maintained between paragraphs and headings.
- Each paragraph should begin with a one-inch indent.
- The manuscript should contain footnotes and references.
Important Dates
Submission begins on July 20, 2026. The deadline for final submissions is September 30, 2026. Communication of acceptance and confirmation is scheduled for January 30, 2027, with the proposed publication date being May 15, 2027.
Publication Conditions
Submissions must be original and must not be under simultaneous consideration by another publication.
Authors grant the NLUD Journal on Labour an irrevocable, transferable, non-exclusive and royalty-free licence to reproduce, publish and distribute accepted submissions across media platforms for the duration of copyright.

Application Procedure
Interested authors must submit their manuscript along with a cover letter containing:
- Author’s name.
- Affiliation.
- Title of the submission.
- Author’s email address and contact number.
- Declaration of originality.
Submissions must be made online through the submission portal or sent to jol@nludelhi.ac.in with the email subject line: “Submission for JOL 2027- Issue III”.
