The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) is inviting applications for its one-month Internship Programme 2026 for eligible law students.

The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) is a statutory body constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. It is responsible for providing free legal services to eligible sections of society, promoting access to justice, organizing Lok Adalats, and strengthening the legal aid delivery system across India through coordination with legal services institutions.

About the Opportunity

The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) is inviting applications for its Internship Programme 2026. The programme is designed to familiarize law students with the functioning of India’s legal services delivery system by providing practical exposure to legal aid mechanisms, policy implementation, legal research, and access to justice initiatives.

Duration

The internship will be conducted for a period of one month (four weeks) and will commence from the first day of the allotted month.

Mode

The internship will be conducted in offline mode.

Location

The selected interns will be required to work from the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), Jaisalmer House, 26, Man Singh Road, New Delhi – 110011.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should:

  • Be pursuing a Three-Year LL.B. course from a recognised university or college.
  • Or be pursuing a Five-Year Integrated LL.B. course from a recognised university or college.

Preference will be given to:

  • Students in the 3rd to 5th year of a Five-Year Integrated LL.B. programme.
  • Students in the 2nd to 3rd year of a Three-Year LL.B. programme.

Roles & Responsibilities

Legal Research

  • Conduct legal research on issues assigned during the internship.

Legal Aid & Policy

  • Assist in understanding and supporting legal aid mechanisms and access to justice initiatives.

Institutional Exposure

  • Gain practical exposure to the functioning of NALSA and the legal services delivery system.

Documents Required

Applicants are required to submit:

  • Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume.
  • Expression of Interest (not exceeding one page).
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by the Dean, Head of Department, Internship & Placement Committee, or another competent authority indicating the applicant’s course and semester/year.
