About National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST)
The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) is a constitutional body established under Article 338A of the Constitution of India. The Commission is entrusted with safeguarding the rights and interests of Scheduled Tribes and monitoring the implementation of constitutional and legal protections designed for their welfare and development.
NCST plays a crucial role in examining policy measures, investigating issues concerning tribal communities, advising governments on welfare initiatives, and ensuring effective implementation of safeguards provided under the Constitution and various legislations.
About the Internship
The NCST Internship Program 2026 offers students an opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to the functioning of a constitutional institution and the implementation of public policies relating to tribal welfare and governance.
Interns will have the opportunity to understand policy formulation, constitutional safeguards, welfare administration, and public governance mechanisms while engaging with issues affecting Scheduled Tribes across the country.
Duration
The internship will be for a period of one month.
Stipend
Selected interns will receive a stipend of ₹15,000 per month.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students in the second year of graduation and above are eligible to apply.
- Applicants must have secured a minimum of 60% marks in their academic programme.
- Candidates interested in public policy, governance, constitutional law, public administration, and tribal welfare are encouraged to apply.
- Applicants should possess strong research and analytical abilities.
Roles & Responsibilities
Policy Research
- Assist in studying policies and programmes relating to tribal welfare and development.
- Support research on governance and public administration issues.
Constitutional & Legal Analysis
- Examine constitutional safeguards and legal frameworks concerning Scheduled Tribes.
- Contribute to research relating to rights-based welfare mechanisms.
Institutional Exposure
- Gain insight into the functioning of a constitutional body.
- Observe policy implementation and administrative processes.
Documentation & Reporting
- Assist in preparing research notes, reports, and analytical summaries.
- Support documentation relating to policy and governance initiatives.
