About the Role

The Legal Associate will be part of the in-house legal team and will primarily work on drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and finalising contracts connected with the entertainment industry. The role involves handling agreements relating to talent engagements, production arrangements, licensing transactions, distribution rights, intellectual property usage, and commercial partnerships.

The position is designed for candidates with a strong understanding of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) law and familiarity with legal issues arising in the media and entertainment sector. The selected candidate will work closely with internal teams, production personnel, external counsel, clients, and talent representatives to ensure timely execution and closure of legal documentation.

The role also involves identifying potential legal risks in contractual arrangements and providing practical legal guidance to support business and production objectives. Candidates will be expected to assist in handling copyright, trademark, licensing, and related IPR matters while ensuring compliance with applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.

In addition to transactional work, the Legal Associate will be responsible for staying updated on developments in entertainment law, intellectual property regulations, and industry practices. The role may also involve conducting legal research, assisting in due diligence exercises, and supporting other legal projects undertaken by the organisation.

Given the nature of the entertainment industry, the position requires the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously while working within strict timelines and fast-moving production schedules.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must possess an LL.B. degree from a recognised institution. Enrolment with the Bar Council of India is preferred. Applicants with approximately one to two years of experience, particularly in media, entertainment, or intellectual property law, are encouraged to apply.

Candidates should have a strong understanding of intellectual property rights, including copyright law, trademarks, licensing arrangements, and distribution contracts. Strong drafting, negotiation, legal writing, and research skills are essential for the role.

Applicants should also possess excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, along with the capacity to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders. A genuine interest in the entertainment industry and knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing media, entertainment, and IPR in India and internationally will be advantageous.
