The Centre for Law and Urban Development (CLUD) at National Law University Delhi invites original blog submissions examining contemporary issues at the intersection of law, policy, and urban development.

Submissions are welcomed from academicians, legal practitioners, policymakers, researchers, and students interested in contributing to informed discourse on urban governance and regulatory frameworks shaping Indian cities.


About the CLUD

The CLUD Blog Series aims to serve as a platform for rigorous yet accessible analysis of urban legal and policy challenges. It encourages interdisciplinary engagement with urban issues, combining legal analysis with policy evaluation, empirical insights, and practical perspectives.

The blog seeks to bridge academic research and real-world urban governance by publishing concise, well-argued pieces relevant to scholars, professionals, and policymakers.


Themes for Submission

Submissions may address, but are not limited to, the following themes:

  • Real Estate & Housing Policy – Legal frameworks, redevelopment, and regulatory incentives for affordable housing and urban inclusion
  • Urban Taxation & City Finance – Property tax systems, infrastructure levies, development incentives, and compliance reforms
  • Healthcare & Pharma Regulation – Urban health infrastructure planning and regulatory mechanisms
  • Urban Project Financing & Insolvency Frameworks – Role of insolvency law, banking regulation, SEBI frameworks, REITs, and financing models
  • Collaborative Models for Urban Infrastructure – PPP frameworks, risk-sharing, and public interest safeguards
  • Smart Cities & Digital Infrastructure – Data governance, IoT, and digital connectivity frameworks
  • Green & Sustainable Cities – Climate-resilient planning, green buildings, and sustainability regulation
  • Construction & Materials Regulation – Building codes, quality standards, and infrastructure safety
  • Power, Water & Urban Utilities – Regulatory reforms in electricity, water, and waste management

Nature of Submissions

  • Word Limit: 800–1500 words
    (Requests for relaxation may be considered upon prior communication)
  • Abstract: Maximum 50 words, to be submitted separately (not within the blog text)
  • Co-authorship: Up to two authors permitted
  • Use of Supporting Materials:
    • Images, graphs, and tables may be used
    • Case studies, empirical data, and policy analysis are encouraged

Author Details

Authors must submit:

  • A brief author bio (around 100 words)
  • A high-resolution photograph
  • A LinkedIn profile link (if available)

Formatting Guidelines

Submissions must strictly adhere to the following:

  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font Size: 12
  • Line Spacing: 1.5
  • Paragraph Spacing: 6 pt before and after
  • Margins: 1 inch on all sides
  • Title:
    • Bold and Underlined
    • Sentence Case only
    • Not more than 10 words
  • Headings:
    • Heading 2 – Bold
    • Heading 3 – Underlined
  • Citations:
    • Use hyperlinks within the text (no footnotes)
  • No borders permitted

Submission Guidelines

  • File format must be .doc / .docx only
  • File name must be:
    “Title CLUD Blog”
  • Metadata of the file must not disclose author identity
  • Submissions must be emailed with the subject line:
    “Submission for Centre for Law and Urban Development Blog Series”
