About Directorate of Enforcement (ED)

The Legal Consultant Recruitment 2025 is announced by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), a premier investigative agency under the Ministry of Finance. ED enforces key financial laws such as the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), and Fugitive Economic Offenders Act (FEOA).

The Authority handles complex financial investigations, litigation before special courts and tribunals, and proceedings related to national economic security. Through this engagement, legal consultants will support case preparation, legal drafting, appellate litigation, tribunal matters, and research for ongoing enforcement actions. Candidates selected under this programme will contribute significantly to high-impact economic offence matters at national level.


About the Opportunity

The Directorate of Enforcement is inviting applications for 75 Legal Consultants on a contractual basis across ED offices in India. Consultants will assist ED officers in legal research, drafting, case management, court appearances, and advisory functions under PMLA, FEMA, FEOA, and related statutes.

Eligibility & Requirements

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognised university.
  • LLM degree desirable and carries additional weightage.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of practice at the Bar/Court.
  • Experience in Criminal Law or Fiscal Law required.
  • Experience handling PMLA, FEMA, FERA, NDPS, COFEPOSA, or economic offences preferred.

Age Limit

  • Not more than 35 years on the closing date.

1. Who can apply for the Legal Consultant post?

Law graduates with a minimum of 3 years of experience in criminal or fiscal law. Preference is given to candidates with LLM or experience in financial crime matters.

2. What is the duration of the contract?

The engagement is for 3 years, extendable annually up to 5 years based on performance.

3. What is the monthly remuneration?

The consolidated monthly fee is ₹80,000, with possible annual increments.

4. Will the posting location be optional?

No. Selected candidates must serve at any ED office across India.

5. Is this a permanent government job?

No. This is a contractual engagement, not permanent government service.
