A great opportunity for law students to gain real-time exposure to India’s legal aid and justice-delivery system through a structured one-month internship at NALSA.

The NALSA Internship Programme 2026 is offered by the National Legal Services Authority, constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. NALSA is responsible for providing free legal services to weaker and marginalised sections of society and for organising Lok Adalats to ensure speedy and amicable dispute resolution. As India’s central legal aid authority, NALSA coordinates with State Legal Services Authorities (SLSAs), District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs), and various legal aid institutions across the country.

The internship is designed to familiarise law students with the structure, functioning, and mandate of legal services institutions. Interns gain hands-on experience through field visits, interactions with legal aid functionaries, orientation sessions, and exposure to the mechanisms of access to justice. Through this programme, NALSA aims to encourage young law students to understand grassroots legal challenges while developing skills relevant to litigation, public policy, and social justice lawyering.

About the Internship / Opportunity

The internship provides an in-depth understanding of the functioning of NALSA and other legal services institutions. Students undergo orientation, receive reading material on NALSA schemes and SOPs, and participate in extensive field visits to DLSAs, SCLSC, Mediation Centres, remand courts, CAW Cells, and more.

This is a full-time, in-person internship requiring 90% attendance for successful completion.
