IILM University, Greater Noida, is organising its 1st Mock Trial Competition 2026 on the theme of male victimisation.

About IILM University

IILM University was established in 1993 under the aegis of the Ram Krishan & Sons Charitable Trust. IILM University, Greater Noida, was established under the Uttar Pradesh Private University (Amendment) Act, 2022.

The university provides legal education through its School of Law, which offers programmes including B.A. LL.B., B.B.A. LL.B., LL.B. and LL.M.

IILM Law School focuses on legal education and practical training, with emphasis on areas including Corporate Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Legal Writing and Intellectual Property Rights.

The School of Law aims to provide students with practical exposure and develop their professional and legal skills.

About the Mock Trial Society

The IILM Mock Trial Society was established in 2026 under the aegis of the School of Law, IILM University, Greater Noida.

The Society provides students with opportunities to understand courtroom practice through simulated trial proceedings. Its activities focus on legal drafting, advocacy, client counselling, oral arguments and witness examination.

About the Opportunity

The IILM Mock Trial Society, School of Law, IILM University, Greater Noida, is organising the All India 1st Mock Trial Competition 2026.

The competition focuses on male victimisation and seeks to encourage discussion and analysis of gender-neutral laws and the legal and social challenges faced by male victims.

The competition will provide participants with practical exposure to trial advocacy, legal research, drafting, oral arguments and witness examination.

The competition will be conducted in hybrid mode, with the preliminary and quarter-final rounds online and the semi-final and final rounds offline.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students pursuing a 3-year or 5-year LL.B. degree from a law school, college or university recognised by the Bar Council of India are eligible.
  • Team members must be bonafide students of the institution they represent.
  • Teams must be authorised by the Mock Trial Society, faculty-in-charge or Dean of their institution.
  • A team cannot change its composition after final registration.
  • No university or institution may send more than two teams.
  • The official language of the competition is English.

Team Composition

Each team must consist of five members:

  • 2 Speakers
  • 1 Researcher
  • 2 Witnesses

Each team will be allotted a Team Code.

Teams must not disclose their institution, city, identity or other personal details during the oral rounds. Disclosure may result in penalties, including disqualification.

Role of Witnesses

  • Each team must bring two witnesses.
  • The witnesses will be cross-examined by the opposing team.
  • The witnesses form part of the original five-member team.
  • A witness may be a law student or a student from another recognised institution or university.
  • Witness roles will be allotted before the respective rounds according to the competition rules.

Structure of the Competition

  • The Researcher Test will be conducted online on October 15, 2026.
  • The Preliminary Rounds will be conducted online on October 15, 2026.
  • The Quarter-Final Round will be conducted online on October 16, 2026.
  • The Semi-Final Round will be conducted offline on November 3, 2026.
  • The Final Round will be conducted offline on November 4, 2026.
  • The Valedictory Ceremony will be held offline on November 4, 2026.

Oral Rounds

  • English will be the language used during all oral rounds.
  • During the Preliminary Rounds, each team will argue once for the Prosecution and once for the Defence.
  • In the Quarter-Final, Semi-Final and Final Rounds, each side will receive a maximum of 45 minutes.
  • Each Speaker will conduct either the Examination-in-Chief or Cross-Examination and will deliver either the Opening Statement or Closing Statement as prescribed by the competition rules.

Written Submission

There is no mandatory requirement for prior written submissions.

Teams may, however, submit written submissions directly to the Judges if they wish to do so.

Registration Fee

The early bird registration fee is β‚Ή3,500.

The standard registration fee is β‚Ή4,000.

Participants must complete the Google registration form and pay the applicable registration fee. The physical registration form attached to the competition brochure must also be completed, signed and sealed by the respective university or institution and uploaded with the Google Form.

  • The last date for early bird registration is September 5, 2026.
  • The last date for registration is September 20, 2026.
  • The last date to seek clarifications is September 30, 2026.
  • Clarifications will be released on October 2, 2026.
  • The inaugural ceremony will be held online on October 14, 2026.
  • The Researcher Test will be held online on October 15, 2026.
  • The Preliminary Rounds will be held online on October 15, 2026.
  • The Quarter-Final Round will be held online on October 16, 2026.
  • The Semi-Final Round will be held offline on November 3, 2026.
  • The Final Round will be held offline on November 4, 2026.
  • The Valedictory Ceremony will be held offline on November 4, 2026.

Awards

  • The Winning Team will receive β‚Ή51,000.
  • The Runner-Up Team will receive β‚Ή31,000.
  • The Best Counsel will receive β‚Ή5,100.
  • The Best Witness will receive β‚Ή5,100.
  • The Best Researcher will receive β‚Ή5,100.

Application Procedure

Interested teams must complete the registration process through the designated Google Form.

Teams must also upload the duly signed and sealed physical registration form along with the Google Form submission and make the applicable registration payment.
